Overview
We're hiring a full-time Medical Assistant/Receptionist to support our Dermatology Institute team across our Newnan and LaGrange, Georgia offices.
This is a hybrid clinical and front office position ideal for someone who enjoys variety in their day and is comfortable supporting both patient care and administrative responsibilities. The Medical Assistant/Receptionist will work alongside our providers and clinical team while also assisting with front desk coverage, patient check-in/check-out, scheduling, phones, and other reception duties as needed.
Candidates should be comfortable transitioning between Medical Assistant and Front Desk responsibilities based on the needs of the office each day and providing a positive, professional experience for patients throughout their visit.
Dermatology experience and Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credentials are preferred but not required.
Schedule
This position supports both our LaGrange and Newnan offices each week:
- Monday & Tuesday: LaGrange, GA | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Wednesday & Thursday: Newnan, GA | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Some Fridays: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Reliable transportation and the ability to work at both office locations are required.
Responsibilities
Medical Assistant Responsibilities:
- Room patients and prepare them for examination by the provider
- Obtain and document patient medical history, medications, and reason for visit
- Assist providers during examinations, procedures, biopsies, and other dermatologic treatments
- Prepare examination rooms, instruments, and supplies
- Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection as needed
- Provide wound care instructions and patient education
- Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record
- Clean, disinfect, and restock examination rooms
- Support providers and clinical staff with additional patient care needs throughout the day
Front Desk/Reception Responsibilities:
- Greet and check patients in and out in a friendly and professional manner
- Answer incoming phone calls and assist patients with questions or route calls appropriately
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments
- Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information
- Collect copays, deductibles, and other patient payments
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
- Assist with incoming faxes, medical records, and other administrative tasks
- Communicate effectively with clinical staff to help maintain efficient patient flow
- Provide coverage and support wherever needed to ensure a positive patient experience
Qualifications

Required
- High school diploma or GED
- Comfort performing both clinical Medical Assistant and front desk/reception responsibilities
- Ability to reliably commute between the LaGrange and Newnan office locations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Basic computer skills and comfort learning electronic medical record and scheduling systems
Preferred
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential
- Completion of a Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program
- Bachelor's degree in a pre-med, pre-physician assistant, or related healthcare field
- 1-2 years of recent Medical Assistant or clinical patient care experience
- Previous dermatology experience
- Experience assisting with biopsies, excisions, sutures, cryotherapy, or cosmetic procedures
- Experience using an EMR

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday
- Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, balancing, and repetitive movements
- Frequent use of hands and fingers for clinical procedures and documentation
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, providers, and team members
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 30 pounds
- Ability to safely handle medical supplies, instruments, and office materials
