Position Summary
The Senior Executive Assistant provides high-level administrative and strategic support to the EVP & Chief Customer Officer (CCO), serving as a trusted partner in managing the day-to-day operations of the Customer Experience, Solutions, and Services (CESS) organization. This role requires exceptional judgment, discretion, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment. The position plays a critical role in enabling the CCO’s effectiveness by anticipating needs, managing complex priorities, and facilitating communication across executive leadership and their support staff, the Board, and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Executive Support & Strategic Partnership
Provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support for the CCO.
Act as a gatekeeper and strategic partner to the CCO, managing priorities, time, and competing demands.
Anticipate needs and proactively resolve issues to optimize executive efficiency.
Exercises judgement in evaluating whether a deliverable should be presented to the CCO for their attention or if it should be delegated.
Support CCO in decision-making by organizing information, tracking key initiatives, and ensuring follow-through.
Maintain a prominent level of availability and flexibility to support the executive’s schedule, which may require varied work hours or locations.
Calendar & Meeting Management
Manage a highly complex and dynamic calendar, including but not limited to internal meeting, external meetings, Board meetings, etc.
Prioritize scheduling based on business impact and urgency.
Provide support in preparation for the CCO’s meetings, including planning meetings and compiling meeting materials.
Communication & Stakeholder Management
Serve as a liaison between the CCO and senior leadership, Board members, and external partners.
Draft and manage high-level communications on behalf of the CCO.
Ensure alignment and coordination across the various business units reporting to the CCO.
Operational & Administrative Excellence
Manage travel arrangements, expense reporting, and logistics with precision and efficiency.
Maintain organized records, files, and documentation in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Proactively work with other Executive Assistants, within CESS and across Duke Energy, to meet cross-functional deliverables.
Confidentiality & Relationship Management
Handle sensitive business, personnel, and strategic information with the highest level of discretion.
Demonstrate excellent people skills and collaborate professionally with employees of all levels, both internal and external to Duke Energy.
Maintain current knowledge of Duke Energy enterprise organization and business operations.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree
6+ years of related experience
In lieu of a Bachelor's degree + 6 years of experience, a HSD/GED + 10 years of related experience is permissible
Preferred
8–12+ years of executive administrative experience supporting C-suite leaders, preferably in a publicly traded company and/or within a regulated industry (utilities, energy, or similar)

Working Conditions
- Onsite Mobility Classification – Work will be performed at Duke Energy Plaza in Charlotte, NC, 5 days per week
- May require flexibility in work hours and some travel (5-15%)
