Position Summary:
The Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, troubleshooting, and performing mechanical adjustments on assigned machinery. This role also includes inspecting finished products to ensure they meet specifications, making adjustments as necessary.
Core Responsibilities:
- Operate high speed filling and packaging machines
- Operate other equipment, as needed
- Follow instructions/information on Job Tickets to perform duties
- Maintain accurate inventory of components
- Ability to move 55-gallon drum or 5-gallon pails, manually or with use of proper equipment
- Responsible for checking quality and conformity of production throughout run.
- Setup, change over, and clean up filling and packaging machines daily
- Maintain mobile equipment certification and properly use equipment
- Follow all safety, work, and good manufacturing practices, procedures, and rules
- Follow all quality, housekeeping and inventory requirements
- Responsible for workspace and safe operation of any assigned equipment, materials, items, and tools
- Ability to make mechanical adjustments to machines using basic hand tools
- Maintain recordkeeping requirements in written form and with use of computer
- Professionally represent the company
- Possess ability to be trained and to train others when needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications / Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1-3 years prior machine operator experience that included making mechanical adjustments, using basic hand tools, and working with automatic and manual equipment
- Forklift certification may be required (training can be provided).
- Clamp truck certification may be required (training can be provided).
- Able to work in environments with extreme temperatures, chemicals, fumes, dust, loud noise, and vibrations.
- Able to read, write, and communicate clearly.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Able to use hand tools and equipment like fillers, cappers, sealers, printers, and labelers.
- Basic math skills required.
- Able to work well with others and learn new tasks through cross-training.
- Flexible and able to adjust to changing priorities or overtime when needed.
- Positive attitude and teamwork-focused.
- Able to stand or sit for long periods.
- Able to lift or move up to 50+ pounds with or without assistive equipment.
- Able to perform the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Willing to follow all safety, environmental, and company policies, especially when working with chemicals.
