Description
Position Overview:
A temporary/contract Registered Nurse (RN) is needed for a 12-hour day shift position in a Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) in Bay City, MI. The PACU RN provides continuous monitoring, symptom management, and immediate post-operative care to patients recovering from surgical procedures and anesthesia.
Schedule & Shift Details:
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week.
- Shift Type: Days (12 hours/day).
- Shift Times: 9:00 AM – 9:30 PM (Variable start and shift times).
- Weekend Requirements: Weekend coverage is limited to on-call shifts when not scheduled.
- On-Call Requirements: On-call rotation for nights and weekends alongside permanent clinical staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Monitoring: Continuously evaluate vital signs (heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, temperature) and consciousness levels during anesthesia recovery.
- Airway Management: Ensure patent airway maintenance and optimal respiratory function, intervening promptly in cases of obstruction or distress.
- Symptom & Pain Control: Administer prescribed IV fluids, analgesics, and antiemetics to manage post-operative pain and nausea effectively.
- Assessment & Emergency Intervention: Inspect surgical sites, dressings, and physical progress; identify adverse surgical/anesthetic reactions and execute immediate emergency protocols.
- Documentation & Coordination: Maintain detailed electronic records and coordinate patient care plans directly with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary team members.
Candidate Qualifications & Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum 2+ years of dedicated PACU nursing experience [Required].
- Licensure: Active Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license active at time of submission [Required].
- Certifications: Active Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) [Required].
