Location: Ontario

Schedule: 14-14 drive-in drive-out (subject to change)

At Sandvik, the Lead Hand Field Service Technician is responsible for performing advanced troubleshooting, inspection, repair, commissioning and maintenance activities on customer equipment at mine sites and customer locations. This position acts as a technical leader within the service team, providing guidance, coaching and support to technicians while ensuring high-quality service delivery and customer satisfaction.

The Lead Hand Field Service Technician supports customers by recommending technical improvements, identifying opportunities to enhance equipment performance and reliability, and providing advanced technical support to both customers and internal stakeholders.

What you will be doing

  • Perform advanced repairs, inspections, and commissioning of mining equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
  • Provide technical support and equipment improvement recommendations.
  • Complete service reports, failure analyses, and related documentation.
  • Maintain service tools and equipment for safe and effective field work.
  • Lead field service activities and provide technical direction to technicians.
  • Coach, train, and mentor team members on service methods and best practices.
  • Support work planning, task coordination, and quality execution.
  • Build strong customer relationships through responsive, professional service.
  • Promote safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Attend on/off site internal and customer facing meetings as requested.

Environmental Health and Safety

  • Complies with safety policies and applicable government, customer or industry regulations or requirements.
  • Responsibility to identify and report any unsafe work habits, workplace incidents and/or near misses. Perform risk assessments (“Take Five”) prior to each task.
  • Maintains hand tools and equipment to ensure safe operation.
  • Maintains orderly work area and ensures housekeeping requirements are met.
  • Attend Environmental, Health and Safety related trainings.
  • Wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) assigned for each task.

What you will bring along

  • Relevant trade certification (red seal is considered an asset).
  • At least 3 years related experience with mining equipment is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience with equipment would be an asset.
  • Common Core training is considered an asset.
  • Excellent proficiency in reading hydraulic and electrical schematics.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical issues with mining equipment.
  • Previous leadership, mentoring or lead hand experience is considered an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office).
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to local mine sites and across Canada as required. 
  • Ability and willingness to work varied shifts (as required)
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
