Description
Key Responsibilities
- Prepares maintenance and project plans and coordinates deliverables from planning through implementation for facilities systems that support semiconductor process equipment — ultrapure water, bulk and specialty gases, chemical delivery, process vacuum and exhaust abatement, HVAC and cleanroom environmental controls. Maintains the matrix of preventive-maintenance and process-improvement actions.
- Drives maintenance and project deliverables and task detail through CMMS work-order reports, tool uptime and MTBF/MTTR tracking charts, and PM checklists.
- Aligns the activities of internal maintenance technicians, facilities engineers, and contracted service resources to achieve on-time and within-budget performance objectives while minimizing equipment downtime and protecting cleanroom production schedules.
- Monitors and reports to the business unit on cost performance, including spare-parts consumption, utility usage, and contracted service spend.
- Participates on intra-business-unit design teams for tool installations, hook-ups, retrofits, and facility upgrades. Contributes to the team's technical development in areas such as SEMI S2/S8 equipment safety, lockout/tagout, and post-maintenance equipment qualification.
- Researches root causes of equipment and facility-system failures — utility interruptions, abnormal process excursions, contamination and particle events — and assists in implementing corrective and preventive actions.
Functional Knowledge
- Demonstrates conceptual and practical expertise in facilities maintenance for semiconductor equipment — mechanical, electrical, vacuum, gas and chemical delivery systems — and basic knowledge of related disciplines such as process engineering and EHS compliance
Business Expertise
- Has knowledge of fab facilities and equipment-maintenance best practices and how own area integrates with manufacturing, process engineering, and EHS; is aware of competing equipment and service providers and the factors that differentiate them in the market
Leadership
- Acts as a resource for less-experienced technicians and facilities engineers; may lead small facilities projects, PM program changes, or planned shutdown activities with manageable risks and resource requirements
Problem Solving
- Solves complex equipment and facility-system problems; takes a new perspective on existing PM and troubleshooting approaches; exercises judgment based on the analysis of tool data, alarm history, and utility trends
Impact
- Impacts tool availability, production output, and maintenance cost within own team and other related manufacturing, process, and EHS teams; works within broad guidelines, SEMI standards, and site safety policies
Interpersonal Skills
- Explains difficult or sensitive technical and safety information to operations, process owners, and contractors; works to build consensus on downtime windows and maintenance priorities
