This position is off-campus and student employees must provide their own transportation to the site.
JOB TITLE: Accounting Assistant at Aeon
PAY RATE: $20/hour
REPORTS TO: Property Accounting Manager
Shifts: Fall 2026 through Spring 2027, in alignment with Work Study program dates and the student’s Work Study award and eligibility. Approximately 10–15 hours per week, with scheduling flexibility based on the student’s availability and Work Study award. Students may work up to 20 hours per week.
LOCATION(S): This position will be primarily remote, with occasional work at Aeon’s Central Office in the North Loop of Minneapolis, MN, as needed.

Position Summary
The Accounting Assistant will support Aeon’s Finance and Accounting team with a variety of accounting, administrative, and project-based responsibilities related to Aeon’s affordable housing portfolio. This position is a great opportunity for a student interested in gaining hands-on experience in accounting and finance while contributing to the work of a mission-driven nonprofit organization.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
• Assist with accounts payable transaction entry and related tasks.
• Support annual government filings and other recurring accounting processes.
• Assist with accounting and finance-related analysis, projects, and special assignments.
• Help with system organization, data cleanup, and post-implementation projects.
• Organize and maintain accounting records, files, and supporting documentation.
• Assist the Finance and Accounting team with other projects and administrative tasks as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidate Skills & Qualifications:
• Must have a Work Study award through the University of St. Thomas
• Students pursuing business, accounting, finance, or a related field are encouraged to apply. Relevant coursework or previous related work experience is a plus but not required.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good organizational and time-management skills.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Ability to ask questions, take initiative, and work independently when appropriate.
• Interest in learning more about accounting, finance, and/or nonprofit affordable housing.
