The HKUST Entrepreneurship Center (EC) supports innovation and entrepreneurship in the HKUST communities (students, alumni, faculties and staff). It drives initiatives and provides support to foster an entrepreneurial culture and community as well as entrepreneurship development for the University. Through active engagement and partnership, EC strives to nurture value-creating entrepreneurs for the economic and social development of Hong Kong and beyond.
With an energetic, dynamic and entrepreneurial working culture, EC is searching for a high-calibre individual to fill the post of Assistant Manager to work with different stakeholders and industry partners to maximize the entrepreneurial success of the HKUST community. In particular, the appointee will lead and implement initiatives related to driving, promoting, and supporting members of the University in entrepreneurship development in the Greater Bay Area. The appointee will also play a key role in a wide array of entrepreneurship programs and services to foster a positive entrepreneurial culture on campus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and organize programs and activities such as entrepreneurial training, competitions, investor meet-ups, networking opportunities, visits, bootcamps, promotional campaigns, etc.
- Administer funding to support innovation and entrepreneurship development from proof of concept, prototyping to market launch in HKSAR, the Greater Bay Area, and beyond.
- Advise students and start-ups to bring them closer to entrepreneurial success.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor a reporting system to ensure effective and efficient tracking of students’ entrepreneurship development, progress of initiatives, and data analysis for management reports.
- Produce publicity materials on traditional and digital channels to raise positive awareness and engagement in entrepreneurial initiatives within the HKUST community.
- Liaise with internal and external parties, professionals, and corporates to connect the HKUST community with resources and opportunities useful to their start-up development.
- Organize events and activities to drive Founder’s Club and Mentorship Network initiatives.
- Undertake other projects and duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree with a good understanding of the Greater Bay Area, and at least 5 years of relevant and proven post-qualification experience in designing and implementing new initiatives and programs, program management, project development, funding administration and working with partners in the Mainland. The ideal candidate should (i) be mature, presentable, outgoing, creative and entrepreneurial-minded; (ii) have a good team spirit with strong organizational, interpersonal and problem-solving skills, and excellent communication skills in both English and Chinese (fluency in Cantonese and Putonghua is a must); (iii) have a broad base of business knowledge and excellent analytical skills; the ability to multitask, work independently, flexibly and efficiently under pressure to produce high quality work; (iv) be people-oriented with good marketing sense and experience; and (v) be willing to travel to the Mainland and overseas. Business travel and working outside normal office hours are required. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview. (Duration: 2 years)
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
