Job Description:
The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the infrastructure and systems that support the collection, processing, and storage of data. They work with large datasets and develop data pipelines that move data from source systems to data warehouses, data lakes, and other data storage and processing systems. The Data Engineer also develops and maintains data APIs, ETL processes, and data integration systems.Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and data processing systems.
Develop and maintain data APIs and ETL processes.
Implement data quality and data governance policies and procedures.
Work with data scientists and other analysts to support the development and implementation of data-driven solutions.
Stay up to date on the latest data technologies and trends.
Assist in other duties as assigned, relevant to the achievement of the position’s and team’s objectives.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
2+ years of experience in a data engineering role.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Strong knowledge of data processing technologies and tools.
Experience with data warehousing and data lake technologies.
Experience with data modeling and data quality.
Experience with cloud computing and virtualization technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record in accordance with Fortis policy.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies.
Experience with big data processing technologies.
Experience with data visualization and reporting tools.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is performed in a professional office environment. Role is stationary, often standing or sitting for long periods of time, utilizing standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc. Communication with internal and external contacts, including speaking and hearing is required. May occasionally push, pull or lift up to 25 lbs.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
