Position Summary:
This position is required to set up, adjust, and maintain equipment with responsibility for production and quality of Receiving Station cleaning equipment. Performs repairs and maintenance to building/facility, and orders materials to support optimal equipment efficiency.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Understands the Plant’s equipment and participates in troubleshooting resolutions to minimize equipment and plant downtime, materials loss and spills. Reviews daily schedule and discusses with Receiving Manager plans to prioritize daily work schedule to meet customer requirements. Keeps Receiving Station manager informed of downtime reasons and length during the critical harvest period.
- Reviews daily and projected production schedule for preventative maintenance practices and project planning including Capital projects.
- Personally demonstrates the OSC values and safety practices. Insures the safety of employees working on the team through adherence to plant safety requirements, programs, and G.M.P. practices. Coaches team members when unsafe practices/behaviors are recognized.
- Fully participates in the Receiving Station’s EHS program including monthly Safety meetings, and is an active player in accident investigations. Must be actively involved in the development and maintenance of the EHS program.
- Personally provides leadership to Receiving Station team employee’s regarding employee relations and policies. Explains and mentors employees regarding operational knowledge, SOP and GMP for plant’s product flow.
- Reviews with manager, opportunities where operational standards are not being met. Presents determined cause and corrective measures.
- Engages self in feedback to ensure prompt attention and resolution of conditions that adversely affect quality and throughput.
- Services electronic equipment by checking, testing, and replacing faulty components, circuits, printed circuit boards, and similar electronic devices.
- Performs varied mechanical duties such as dismantling, moving, repairing and installing or repairing shafts, pulleys, hoists, conveyors and other facility equipment. Starts up and shuts down equipment in line with Company safety procedures for equipment under power and WorksafeBC requirements.
- Performs repairs on pumps, compressors, and all other equipment.
- Remain compliant with GMP, and OSC’s Quality Operating Guidelines (i.e. HACCP, food grade/nonfood grade lubes, chemical usage and maintenance for Food Safety SOP. Reports all Food Safety and Food Quality issues to the Receiving Station manager.
Decision-Making Authority/Accountability Level:
This position requires follow-through directions issued by management in regard to production, quality and safety issues in line with management’s established guidelines on priorities, methods, and procedures. Ability to train/mentor hourly team members, driving decision making accountability to all levels. This position is accountable for adhering to the OSC 5-(S) program, compliance with quality and safety audit checks.
Minimum Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements:
Effective organizational, planning and leadership skills, and business acumen; and possess above average reading, writing, math and communication skills. Good interpersonal skills associated with the need to work constructively in a team environment, arrive both timely, and consistently at work; assume responsibility and work shifts as required. Proficient computer skills and ability to manually operate equipment and troubleshoot problems. Must be able to acquire OSC forklift certification. May require welding and electrical skills depending on maintenance level.
This position supports the effective production flow of the plant, and provides guidance and instructions related to equipment/process flow when required.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical/electrical parts and pressurized equipment, and extreme cold or heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and performs duties at high levels. The noise level in the work environment is typical for a manufacturing environment, and required appropriate hearing protection within the plant’s operations.
