Markon is seeking a Construction Surveillance Technician (CST) to support secure construction projects in Washington D.C. This role provides continuous security surveillance of construction activities to help protect sensitive facilities, personnel, and assets throughout the construction lifecycle. The CST will monitor construction personnel and activities, inspect materials and equipment, identify potential security concerns, and ensure work is performed in accordance with applicable security requirements, including ICD 705 standards for SCIF construction.
Responsibilities
- Observe, inspect, and document construction activities within secure project environments.
- Monitor construction personnel, materials, equipment, and work areas for potential security concerns or unauthorized activity.
- Conduct physical searches of personnel, equipment, materials, and construction areas as required.
- Operate technical security, surveillance, and monitoring equipment individually and as part of a team.
- Identify and report suspicious behavior, security violations, and other activities that could impact facility security.
- Compare construction activities and site conditions against blueprints, project documentation, and ICD 705 requirements.
- Support physical, personnel, and technical security measures throughout construction activities.
- Prepare clear and accurate security reports and documentation using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Coordinate with construction, security, and project personnel to communicate security concerns and support corrective actions.
- Maintain continuous awareness of site conditions and follow applicable construction safety and security procedures.
Qualifications
- Active Top Secret clearance required.
- Must be willing to complete a polygraph examination and upgrade clearance/access if required.
- Minimum 6 months of security experience and/or 2 years of construction or skilled trades experience.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and varying schedules based on mission requirements.
- Ability to travel to different project locations as directed.
- Ability to work safely and make sound decisions within an active construction environment.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including:
- Standing for 8–12 hours during a work shift.
- Walking across uneven surfaces and navigating active construction areas.
- Climbing 5 flights of stairs multiple times during an 8–12 hour shift.
- Lifting up to 25 pounds.
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Construction Surveillance Technician or supporting secure construction projects.
- Knowledge of ICD 705 and SCIF construction requirements.
- Experience reading construction blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Construction or trade experience involving electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, concrete, or finishing work.
- Experience with physical security, personnel security, site security, technical surveillance, or executive protection.
- Relevant military experience, including security, infantry, construction, technical surveillance, or protection assignments.
- Knowledge of construction safety, project lifecycles, materials, and equipment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with AutoCAD or similar application
Salary Range
USD $90,000.00 - USD $105,000.00 /Yr.The Markon pay range for this position is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
