Rate of pay: $17.00/hr - $17.10/hr
Job Summary: Under the direction of the Branch Executive Director, the Youth and Family Programs Coordinator will oversee and manage youth and family enrichment programs at the Hernando County Family YMCA.
Additional Job Duties:
- Market, organize, staff, and manage youth programs at the Hernando County branch including but not limited to homeschool, preschool, Parent's Night Out, enrichment, and camps.
- Oversee staff and operations of our Kids Zone area as well as The Zone.
- Personally develop and cultivate relationships with members and volunteers, as well as in the community to increase awareness of programs.
- Mentor and support staff and volunteers in all aspects of youth programs.
- Provide support during the annual campaign.
Success Measures (Year 1*):
Particular focus is on marketing, building relationships, and growing the programs.
-Increase number of participants in youth programs by 10%.
-Increase numbers for summer camps by 5%.
-Help branch meet or exceed annual giving.
* Additional success measures will be added in following years as the job scope
expands.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Coordinator will be responsible for the over all supervision of the entire department. Must be able to supervise volunteers and/or staff and make sure that everyone follows safety standards and rules of the YMCA.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

The Department Coordinator must possess the competence and confidence to administer the effective and quality coordination of the entire department. They must be responsible and at least 18 years of age and have the ability to cooperate and work with YMCA staff to provide a quality program. The Coordinator must demonstrate good communication and problem solving skills along with a good understanding of the community that he/she is working with. Must have the skills, knowledge and genuine willingness to work with the community. Get SMART and if supervising, Supervisor's Training preferred. High School graduate or equivalent required. Upon hire, must complete Intro to the Ys Cause & Culture, Y's Way to Service & Engagement, and I Hear You: Service with CARE. Refer to current training plan for specific function to identify additional required trainings for this position.
SPECIAL SKILLS OR EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:
This individual must familiarize themselves with YMCA rules and policies. Good verbal communication skills are beneficial.
PHYSICAL AND/OR MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
This individual needs to be able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds. This individual may be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
JOB DUTIES:
1.*Coordinate the function under the direction of the supervisor.
2. Create a nurturing and safe environment by reporting suspicious activity that may lead to child abuse or may violate the code of conduct.
3. Keep supplies organized, maintain and clean facility and care for equipment. Keep a clean and organized work area.
4. *Ensure any communication reflects the YMCA voice.
5. *Always wear the YMCA staff shirt, name tag, SMART pin and appropriate attire.
6. Distribute materials and make announcements as needed to promote function.
7. *Report any new or continuing problem that may arise.
8. *Role model SMART behavior.
9. Supervise all staff and volunteers within the department.
10. Meet budgetary responsibilities under the direction of the supervisor.
