Director of Nursing

1.1. Description

1.1.1. The nature of the job as the Director of Nursing is to provide nursing care to individuals with developmental disabilities in home and community-based settings by hiring, training, and managing nursing personnel as well as participating in individual specific planning and meetings. You will be managing employees who may be providing nursing or direct support. You will help increase our stream of revenue and support the administration team through accreditation processes.

1.2. Prequalification

1.2.1. All Director of Nursing employees must submit to Assisted Independence, LLC proof of the following prior to employment and prior to the expiration of any document:

1.2.1.3. College or University Diploma or Equivalent from an accredited School of Nursing

1.2.1.4. Must be licensed in the applicable state as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN)

1.2.1.5. CPR Certification

1.2.1.6. First Aid Certification

1.2.1.7. Negative Tuberculin Skin Test

1.2.1.7.1. Religious Exemptions accepted

1.2.1.8. Driver’s license

1.2.1.9. Vehicle Registration

1.2.1.10. Auto Insurance

1.2.1.11. Additionally, the Direct of Nursing employees must meet the following criteria prior to employment

1.2.1.11.1. Free of Felony Convictions

1.2.1.11.2. Inspector General’s Exclusion from Federally Funded Healthcare Organizations

1.2.1.12. Prior experience managing staff and working in a long-term care and/or assisted living setting preferred

1.3. Job Duties

1.3.1. All Director of Nursing employees must adhere to the rules and regulations set forth in Indiana Administrative Code (IAC) 460-6.

1.3.2. All Director of Nursing employees must adhere to the rules and regulations set forth by the Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Services (DDRS) and Bureau of Disability Services (BDS).

1.3.3. All Director of Nursing employees must abide by the requirements set forth by the Commission on Accreditation for Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) as well as participate in scheduled accreditation surveys.

1.3.4. Plans, directs and coordinates health services for assigned service sites and supervises the delivery of nursing services and nursing personnel

1.3.5. Oversees the provision of appropriate medications, treatments, and general nursing services according to the indiviuals’ care plan and physician directed orders

1.3.6. Assesses individuals’ conditions and vitals to determine and/or modify resident treatment plans

1.3.7. Periodically updates written policies and procedures that govern the Nursing Department

1.3.8. Participates as a member of the facilities management team in planning, policy formation and administrative decision-making, with particular emphasis on the facility nursing services

1.3.9. Provides training services as needed to staff including but not limited to medication administration, signs and symptoms of illness

1.3.10. Provides direct care services as needed, including, but not limited to, passing medications and monitoring individual health status

1.3.11. Facilitate communication and serve as a liaison between and among nursing staff, nursing and direct care staff, the work site and community medical providers, professional consultants and direct care in cooperation with Operations management
