About the Team:

The Print Team supports the end-to-end lifecycle of Dow Jones’ print publications—including The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, Investor’s Business Daily, and the New York Post.

Operating across ad intake, production workflows, plant operations, printing, packaging, single copy and amenity sales, Reprints and Licensing, and distribution; the team collaborates with internal cross-functional partners and external vendors, distributors, and the USPS to ensure quality, content freshness, safety, and cost efficiency from creation to final delivery.

 

About the Role

Assist the Foreman/Woman with the daily direction of the mailroom operations and assignments during the manufacturing of Dow Jones’ and contract print publications in a cost-effective manner, with the highest quality standards available using existing technology. Meet customer expectations for reproduction quality, content freshness and productivity, while complying with dispatch/delivery deadlines. Employ best performance practices—continuous improvement processes/procedures, staff schedules and effective staff development to achieve results. You will be based in the Silver Springs, MD plant reporting to the Pressroom Foreman.

 

You Will:

  • Contribute to department financial and operating objectives by: insuring staff employs and maintains effective processes and develops and refines skills; providing guidance; implementing efficient staffing.

  • Assist the Foreman/Woman in developing and maintaining open communication with employees while clearly emphasizing the goals and objectives of the department.

  • Assist the Foreman/Woman in providing ongoing staff training and development to ensure each employee learns all appropriate job responsibilities, procedures and equipment operation in the mailroom area.

  • Be knowledgeable of dispatch schedules, sorting, bundling requirements, subscription list and top wrap usage for all publications.

  • Support and contribute to the development of a diverse work environment.

  • Assist Foreman/Woman to implement policies/practices that insure compliance with local, state and federal laws and company policy regarding equal employment opportunity, affirmative action, regulatory agency safety and environmental requirements. 

  • Assist Foreman/Woman in keeping accurate, useful and timely operational and maintenance records. 

 

You Have:

  • 3-4 years experience in Mailroom Operations.

  • Customer-focused attributes and are bottom line driven, with a strong record of cost-efficient, timely results.

  • Strong leadership, initiative, decision-making, staff development and interpersonal skills.

  • Well developed verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong and proven problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in the use of business PC applications (spreadsheet, word processor, etc.).

  • Extensive knowledge of and mechanical experience with newspaper mailroom operations, including equipment and best-practice processes.

Base Pay Range: $60,000 - $80,000
