Position Summary 

Northern Technologies Group (NTG) is seeking an Information Technology Subject Matter Expert - Enterprise Storage & Backup to support the health, sustainment, and modernization of our government customer's enterprise storage and backup environments. The role provides technical guidance, vendor evaluation, optimization, documentation, and training across on-premises and cloud environments on NIPRNet and SIPRNet, while supporting system administration, system security, ticketing, and change management. 

This position is full-time, on-site, contingent upon contract award.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assess and modernize enterprise storage and backup capabilities by evaluating major vendors, comparing existing capabilities with recommended solutions, and implementing efficiencies, best practices, and emerging technologies.
• Provide Management Information System (MIS) guidance, risk assessments, business-contingency planning, and recommendations for system improvements.
• Develop as-built documentation for current and future capabilities, train storage personnel, and prepare security assessments, optimization assessments, vendor reviews, and training reports.
• Administer storage and backup infrastructure, manage backup policies and restorations, perform system checks, address outages, coordinate vendor support, and provide assigned activity reports.
• Apply software and firmware updates and DISA STIG configurations; support audits, POAM reporting, PPSM registrations, PKI certificates, and certificate signing requests.
• Resolve ServiceNow (SNOW) tickets, tasks, changes, and incidents within established service levels; maintain documentation and support mission-critical outage resolution and status reporting.
• Participate in weekly primary/alternate on-call rotations and provide 24/7 mission-critical outage support when assigned, remaining reachable by phone and providing requested support within two hours.
• Support operational requirements that may include evening or weekend work and domestic travel for disaster recovery and continuity support.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must possess a SECRET clearance. Required security access and investigation approvals must be in place before work begins.
• Must meet IT-I - Critical Sensitive (Tier 5/SSBI) / High Risk investigation requirements.
• Two (2) years of experience in an advisory or managerial position supporting DoW or Federal enterprise infrastructure, including evaluating, manufacturing, and integrating enterprise-level storage and backup software technologies.
• Five (5) years of hands-on enterprise SAN management experience, including Fibre Channel zoning, iSCSI, FCoE unified fabric, HBA/CNA, storage controllers, LUN, RAID, and file sharing/NAS.
• Enterprise storage experience must include hierarchical storage management and backup/restore services using software such as Cohesity DataProtect.
• Five (5) years of hands-on experience working with Department of War (DoW) IT systems.
• Must meet IAT-II requirements and applicable duty-based cyber workforce and computing-environment/operating-system qualifications and maintain current credentials for administered systems.
• Applicable computing-environment certifications include: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional; Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert; Storage Administration; Dell Certified Associate Information Storage and Management; NetApp Certified Data Administrator (ONTAP); NetApp Certified Hybrid Cloud Administrator; NetApp Certified Hybrid Cloud Architect; NetApp Certified Implementation Engineer - SAN Specialist (ONTAP); NetApp Certified Hybrid Cloud Implementation Engineer; Cohesity Certified Protection Associate - DataProtect; and Cohesity Certified Protection Professional - NetBackup.

Preferred Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of SAN, NAS, Object Storage, Cohesity, and NetBackup.
• Three (3) years of experience designing, architecting, deploying, and managing NetApp and Everpure/Pure Storage arrays, storage topologies, and comprehensive disaster recovery/backup solutions.
• Commercial AWS S3/Glacier, Microsoft Azure Blob/Backup, and OCI experience with relevant certifications.
• Experience with storage networking architecture, security, and routing, including Brocade Fibre Channel fabrics, iSCSI, FCoE, NFS, SMB/CIFS, and dedicated backup replication networks.
• Experience with data protection, ransomware mitigation, immutability, encryption, DISA STIG/IAVA risk mitigation, audit support, root-cause analysis, and resolution of complex storage performance issues or backup failures.
• Experience leading storage and data-protection projects from design through implementation, data migration, and sustainment; ability to guide IT teams, negotiate, explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences, and collaborate across teams.
• Experience developing project plans, status reports, disaster recovery runbooks, job guides, and technical documentation.
• Experience with storage/backup automation, infrastructure-as-code, automated provisioning workflows, and scripting such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash for capacity management, backup scheduling, and administration.
• Experience administering Windows and RHEL volume management, storage presentation, multipathing (MPIO), and backup-agent configuration.
• Experience performing data protection, backup, and restoration for Oracle, SQL, and other enterprise database management systems.

Travel

Domestic travel may be required for disaster recovery and continuity support.

Shift

Generally, eight hours per day, Monday-Friday, with core hours of 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. local time within a 6:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. work window. Weekly primary/alternate on-call rotations and 24/7 mission-critical outage support may be required. Operational needs may require evenings or weekends.
