Role Description

• Designs target-state, lifecycle-based controls aligned to enterprise frameworks (e.g. R164), shifting from reactive to preventative risk management.
• Ensures global consistency with local adaptability, addressing complexity of cross-country regulatory requirements.
• The Control Design AVP is responsible for supporting the development, enhancement and implementation of the Contingent Workforce Management (CWM) control framework across the end-to-end external worker lifecycle. 
• The role acts as a bridge between business requirements, regulatory obligations, risk management standards and operational execution, translating control objectives into practical, measurable, and sustainable controls.
• Working closely with Procurement, HR, Risk, Legal, Tax, Technology and Business stakeholders, the successful candidate will support the design of preventive and detective controls that mitigate contingent workforce risks, strengthen regulatory compliance, and improve governance over the engagement and management of external workers.
• The role will also support control assessments, control documentation, control testing readiness, and implementation of strategic control enhancements arising from regulatory findings, audits, risk assessments and operating model changes.

Your key responsibilities

• Support the design and maintenance of the CWM control framework across the contingent workforce lifecycle.

• Translate risk, regulatory and policy requirements into practical business controls.

• Define and document control objectives, control activities and evidence requirements.

• Partner with Risk, Procurement, HR, Legal and Technology teams to implement effective controls.

• Assess control design adequacy and identify control gaps and improvement opportunities.

• Support control testing, assurance reviews and remediation of control deficiencies.

• Maintain control documentation, standards and risk-control mappings.
• Provide control subject matter expertise to programme workstreams and key stakeholders.

Your skills and experience

• Experience in Risk & Control, Operational Risk, Compliance, Audit, Procurement or related functions.

• Understanding of risk management and internal control frameworks.

• Experience translating regulatory, policy and business requirements into practical controls.

• Ability to identify control gaps and support implementation of effective control solutions.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

• Ability to work across business, risk, technology and operations teams.

• Experience supporting change, remediation or transformation initiatives.

• Strong documentation and attention to detail.

• Experience in Financial Services or other regulated environments preferred.

• Knowledge of contingent workforce management, third-party risk, HR or procurement processes is advantageous.
• Relevant qualifications in Risk, Audit, Compliance, Business Management or Project Management are beneficial.

Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, optimise workflows to solve business problems, while applying critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs.
