UKG is looking for a Software Engineer III to join the team responsible for building and evolving platform capabilities for our Engineering organization.

You will help build, automate, and maintain capabilities across UKG’s public and private (on-premises) cloud platforms, with a strong focus on delivering a reliable and scalable Kubernetes and Cloud Experience for engineering teams.

The role involves working with technologies including Go, Terraform, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions/runners, OpenStack, Rancher, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will contribute to platform engineering, automation, upgrades, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of our cloud-native infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

Manage, improve, automate, and maintain platform tools and services across the organization, delivering value incrementally.

Software Development with an AI mindset: Develop clean, maintainable, and efficient software and automation while effectively leveraging AI-assisted development capabilities.

Design and implement automation using Go, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, scripting, and other platform engineering technologies.

Troubleshoot complex platform and infrastructure issues, analyze available information, identify root causes, and develop detailed implementation and remediation plans.

Develop implementation plans that include automation, testing, validation, rollback, and operational readiness.

Perform and automate platform lifecycle activities, including Kubernetes, Istio, NGINX, and other infrastructure/component upgrades across on-premises and GCP environments.

Collaborate with Engineering and application teams to understand requirements, resolve Service Requests, and remove platform-related blockers.

Mentor team members, participate in technical discussions and code reviews, and contribute to engineering best practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent relevant professional experience may be considered in place of educational requirements.

4+ years of experience working with container technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker.

4+ years of experience working with Linux and/or Windows environments.

4+ years of software development experience with at least one programming language such as Go, Python, Java, or Ruby, with Go preferred.

4+ years of experience with automation technologies, such as Shell/Bash, PowerShell, Ansible, Python, and CI/CD pipelines.

4+ years of experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automating cloud infrastructure and services using technologies such as Terraform.

4+ years of experience with cloud-native technologies and public cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (preferred), AWS, or Azure.

Experience with distributed version control/SCM technologies such as Git/GitHub, including GitHub Actions and CI/CD workflows.

Strong understanding of DevOps, GitOps, automation, and Infrastructure-as-Code principles.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with GKE/GCP and operating Kubernetes environments at scale.

Experience with private-cloud technologies such as OpenStack and Rancher.

Knowledge or hands-on experience with AI/ML technologies and AI-assisted software development tools.

Experience with test automation frameworks and tools.

Familiarity with microservices, REST APIs, SOA patterns, and cloud-native application architectures.

Understanding of Kubernetes networking, ingress/gateway technologies, service mesh technologies such as Istio, and related cloud networking concepts.
