Forward Deployed Engineering Intern (Summer 2027)

What You Will Do

• Analyze supply chain and operations data to uncover patterns, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement, and turn what you find into something a business user can act on.
• Learn our supply chain business functions and build the domain knowledge that makes analytics work matter — sitting with planners and operators to understand the decision behind the data.
• Pair with your manager / mentor, following established patterns and standards so your work is reliable and reusable.
• Document your methodology, business logic, and assumptions so your work is transparent and can be picked up after the summer ends.
• Participate in the pod's sprint cadence — planning, standups, demos, and retrospectives
• Own one scoped summer project end to end and present it to the team and business stakeholders in your final weeks.

How You Will Do It

• Build components of dashboards, Ontology-based workflows, and decision-support tools within our decision intelligence platform, under the guidance of experienced FDEs (Forward Deployed Engineers).
• Support the development of predictive models (demand forecasting, inventory optimization) and prescriptive analytics (scenario planning, decision support) on real datasets.
• Help gather and document data requirements from diverse sources (Azure, data lakes, SQL Server, Excel), supporting Senior FDEs as they implement changes.
• Use AI-powered development tools to build and iterate quickly while developing strong engineering fundamentals.

What We Look For

Required

• Currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited U.S. college or university
• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, IT, Computer Science, and/or related field.
• Ability to be in the greater Milwaukee area in the summer.
  Foundational skills in data manipulation and analysis (SQL, Python, or Excel) and curiosity about decision intelligence platforms such as Palantir and Generative AI tools.
• Duration: Summer 2027. Up to 40 hours per week.
• Working Arrangements: Hybrid internship – must have a quiet workspace away from interruptions, with the option to work in the office. Be able to maintain regular contact with the supervisor/team via virtual methods.

Preferred

• Coursework or projects using Python or R for data analysis and automation.
• Familiarity with decision intelligence tools (Palantir, Databricks, etc.) or BI tools (PowerBI, Tableau, Microsoft Fabric).
• Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) or databased (SQL Server, Snowflake).
• Coursework in statistics, machine learning, optimization, or operations research.
• Familiarity with agile ways or working (user stories, sprints).
