The Facilities Manager is responsible for the overall management, maintenance, and operation of the manufacturing facility and production support equipment. This role ensures the facility infrastructure, utilities, production equipment, and assembly fixtures operate safely, reliably, and efficiently to support manufacturing operations across first and third shifts.

The Facilities Manager leads a team of five maintenance technicians and serves as the primary resource for resolving production equipment and fixture issues that impact safety, quality, delivery, or productivity. The role also owns all building systems and utility infrastructure, including electrical, compressed air, water, fire protection systems, and landlord coordination.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Maintenance Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of five maintenance technicians.
  • Establish work priorities and ensure maintenance coverage for first and third shift operations.
  • Manage employee performance, training, scheduling, and development.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Tooling & Fixture Management

  • Own the maintenance, repair, and reliability of all production tooling, assembly fixtures, jigs, and support equipment.
  • Establish preventive maintenance programs for tooling and fixtures to minimize production downtime and quality issues.
  • Lead troubleshooting and corrective actions for tooling and fixture failures impacting safety, quality, productivity, or delivery.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Quality teams to identify opportunities for tooling improvements, process optimization and continuous improvement
  • Design, develop, and implement new assembly fixtures, workstations, tooling, and error-proofing solutions to support manufacturing requirements.
  • Manage tooling and fixture modifications resulting from product changes, quality improvements, or productivity initiatives.
  • Work with internal stakeholders and external vendors to specify, source, quote, and procure new tooling, fixtures, equipment, and replacement components.
  • Maintain tooling documentation, spare parts inventories, preventative maintenance records, and engineering drawings.

Facility Management

  • Own all aspects of facility maintenance and infrastructure.
  • Ensure proper operation and maintenance of: Electrical distribution systems, Compressed air systems, Water supply and distribution systems, Sprinkler and fire protection systems, HVAC systems, lighting systems, Building structure and grounds
  • Manage routine inspections and compliance requirements for facility systems.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with the building landlord.
  • Coordinate facility repairs, building improvements, and lease-related maintenance activities.
  • Manage relationships with contractors, vendors, and utility providers.
  • Obtain quotations, negotiate service agreements, and monitor contractor performance.

Continuous Improvement

  • Develop maintenance metrics and KPIs including downtime, response times, PM completion rates, and equipment reliability.
  • Lead cost-reduction and facility improvement initiatives.
  • Support capital projects, equipment installations, and facility expansions.
  • Implement best practices in preventive maintenance, spare parts management, and asset lifecycle planning.
  • Work with the factory to develop a Total Productive Maintenance program (TPM)

Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, fire protection, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain facility emergency preparedness programs.
  • Participate in safety audits and corrective action activities.
  • Ensure maintenance work is conducted safely and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
 

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of tooling, maintenance or facilities leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk throughout the manufacturing facility for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb ladders and access equipment and building infrastructure.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.
