Overview
Cigna Global Healthcare Benefits (CGHB) is continuing to grow across the Middle East as is our experience and expertise. The Middle East Underwriting team has played a key role in this success and they are now looking to recruit an additional Underwriter to join the team in Dubai during an exciting time of strategic change. This role reports directly into the Underwriting Manager and involves fundamental risk analysis, rate development, pricing and consultative underwriting responsibilities. As an Underwriter, the successful candidate will play a key role in attaining profitable growth, persistency, and earnings for the organization. Must have the ability to make effective decisions within their Underwriting authority based on strong knowledge of all financial implications, both internal and external. Has thorough knowledge of factors that influence market and competitive conditions and can use predictive techniques to calculate future risk exposure. Has an understanding of the typical product suite, regulatory guidelines and operational processes that support the health insurance industry. Critical Tasks and Expected Contributions / Results:
- Evaluate, price and build insurance plans for SME and Large corporations in line with organizational and market strategy
- In depth analysis and pricing of renewal portfolio, working with relevant sales representatives, brokers and clients to implement required rating actions
- Manage portfolio of accounts, balancing long term profitability, persistency and growth
- Conduct analytical reviews to identify and understand trends, patterns and insights that are used to successfully manage portfolio
- Working closely with sales and client management to win and retain business
- Working closely with operations and clinical teams to ensure the appropriate use of products
- Maintaining strong relationship with finance and actuarial teams to ensure the effectiveness of pricing strategies and models
- Investigate any non-compliance of benefit adjudication and liaise with appropriate managers to ensure compliance
- Provide concise, clear and decisive instructions on risk exposure
- Be market aware; understand the competition, the environment and customer needs
- Provide accurately and timely UW metrics to the Underwriting Manager

Education and Other Requirements:
- A graduate degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or closely related field
- Up to 5 years’ working experience
- A passion for analytics, with proven experience
- Knowledge of the health insurance industry is preferable
- Pursuit of professional qualifications or continued development will be viewed favorably
