Title: Manager, Payment Strategy and Cash Operations (12-month contract)

Department: Customer Operations

Location: 6300 Steeles Ave West, Woodbridge

Total Potential Compensation: $85,000 - $115,000

Position Summary:

This role is responsible for leading Cash Administration, Banking Operations, and Customer Payment Solutions for 407 ETR. It oversees cash receipts, payment processing, banking relationships, customer payment programs, reconciliations, financial controls, and vendor management.

The role supports payment strategy initiatives by improving payment processes, reducing processing costs, enhancing the customer payment experience, and ensuring compliance with regulatory, audit, and internal control requirements. The successful candidate will provide leadership across cross-functional initiatives while promoting continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and service excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end oversight of financial transaction processing, including cash receipts, refunds, rejects, customer payments, and banking transactions, ensuring accurate reconciliation, timely processing, and adherence to established service levels.

  • Manage back-office operations for the Customer Payment Solutions team, ensuring effective workflow management, quality assurance, internal controls, and consistent delivery of service excellence.

  • Provide oversight of banking operations to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, corporate policies, financial controls, audit requirements, and risk management expectations.

  • Develop, recommend, and execute payment strategy initiatives that enhance payment channel performance, increase customer adoption, improve operational scalability, and support cost efficiency objectives.

  • Analyze payment trends, cost drivers, and operational performance to identify opportunities to reduce payment processing expenses while maintaining a seamless and customer-focused payment experience.

  • Lead cross-functional business initiatives related to payment systems, banking integrations, customer payment platforms, automation, and operational modernization, ensuring alignment with business priorities and stakeholder expectations.

  • Oversee the implementation of new technologies and process enhancements by defining business requirements, coordinating testing and user acceptance activities, assessing operational impacts, and supporting business readiness.

  • Partner with IT, Finance, Customer Operations, and external vendors to advance automation opportunities, strengthen process efficiencies, and improve the customer payment journey.

  • Manage strategic relationships with banking partners, payment processors, card providers, technology vendors, and other external service providers to ensure effective service delivery and issue resolution.

  • Monitor vendor performance, service-level agreements, operational risks, contractual obligations, and escalation requirements, taking appropriate action to address service gaps and mitigate business risk.

  • Maintain oversight of compliance requirements related to PCI-DSS, privacy, banking regulations, internal controls, and financial governance, ensuring appropriate processes and controls are in place.

  • Prepare, review, and present financial reports, forecasts, budgets, payment metrics, banking performance results, operational dashboards, and executive reporting materials to support informed decision-making.

  • Support enterprise value-creation initiatives by identifying opportunities to optimize payment processes, improve operational efficiency, strengthen controls, and enhance the customer experience.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required to support departmental and organizational priorities.

Leadership and Decision-Making Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to the team, fostering accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and a high-performance culture.

  • Establish team priorities, clarify expectations, monitor performance, and ensure work is aligned with departmental objectives, service commitments, compliance obligations, and broader business goals.

  • Exercise sound judgment in resolving operational issues, prioritizing payment and banking initiatives, escalating risks, and determining appropriate corrective actions within established policies, controls, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related discipline.

  • Minimum 5-7 years of leadership experience in financial operations, banking, cash administration, payment operations, customer payment solutions, or a related field.

  • Demonstrated experience leading teams in a fast-paced operational environment with accountability for service delivery, controls, and performance management.

  • Strong understanding of banking operations, cash management, payment processing, and financial reconciliations.

  • Knowledge of digital payment channels, payment gateways, merchant services, card payment networks, electronic payments, and banking platforms.

  • Experience leading business transformation, process improvement, and technology implementation initiatives.

  • Proven ability to lead, coach, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis, reporting, forecasting, and financial modelling.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Teams.

  • Experience with ERP, financial, customer management, and reporting systems such as SAP, Salesforce, or Power BI is considered an asset.
