Summary of the role

As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, where your ideas and contributions will be valued and respected.

  • Responsible for performing general food service work in a non-restaurant environment such as employee dining room, canteen, on-site company cafeteria etc. Review menus and customer orders to determine type and quantities of food to be prepared. Prepares, seasons and cooks food. May plan menus and estimate required food quantities, labor and overhead costs. May coordinate food storage and maintenance of kitchen and storage facilities.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Follows all quality standards, safe food handling to ensure compliance with state, federal and OSHA safety and

                  sanitation regulations.

    • Precisely chopping, slicing, and measuring ingredients for complex dishes.
    • Cooking various menu items according to established recipes, including grilling, sautéing, frying, and baking.
    • Preparing sauces, stocks, and dressings.
    • Assembling and plating dishes with attention to presentation.
    • Checking food quality and doneness to ensure consistency and proper temperature.
    • Identifying and reporting any issues with food quality or potential food safety to the kitchen supervisor.
    • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
    • Properly cleaning and sanitizing equipment and surfaces after use.
    • Following proper food storage procedures (FIFO).
    • Monitor ingredient levels and communicate stock needs to the kitchen supervisor.
    • Effectively communicating with kitchen staff to ensure smooth service.
    • Additional duties as assigned by the kitchen supervisor.

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    • High school diploma or GED.
    • 1-3 years of experience as a cook or assistant cook
    • Culinary training or experience preferred
    • RI Food Safety Manager Certificate preferred
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus

    SKILLS & ABILITIES

    • Strong knife skills
    • Basic culinary knowledge and cooking techniques
    • Attention to detail and ability to follow recipes precisely
    • Ability to multitask and work under pressure
    • Ability to stand and cook for extended periods
    • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
    • Good communication and teamwork skills
    • Understanding of food safety and sanitation practice
