With strong roots in the community and a passion for excellence, we are looking for an experienced and strategic Automotive General Manager to lead our dealership to the next level of performance and growth.Position Overview:The Automotive General Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the dealership’s operations, including sales, finance, service, and administrative functions. This leadership role requires a hands-on, results-driven professional with a strong background in automotive retail, team development, and operational excellence. The GM will lead department managers, shape business strategy, and ensure that customer satisfaction, profitability, and compliance standards are consistently met.Key Responsibilities:Provide day-to-day leadership and direction for all dealership departments.Drive profitability through effective sales strategies, expense control, and process improvement.Oversee inventory management, vehicle pricing, and vendor relationships.Recruit, train, mentor, and retain high-performing department managers and staff.Monitor and evaluate performance metrics across departments to ensure business goals are met.Ensure customer satisfaction through effective problem resolution and a commitment to service excellence.Collaborate with the finance team to ensure compliance and optimize deal structures.Develop and execute marketing initiatives to increase brand visibility and traffic.Maintain dealership compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as internal policies.Report directly to ownership with monthly performance summaries and strategic recommendations.Qualifications:5+ years of automotive dealership experience, with at least 2 years in a senior leadership or GM role.Proven success in leading high-volume used car sales operations.Strong understanding of finance and insurance (F&I), vehicle reconditioning, inventory turn, and customer retention.Exceptional leadership, communication, and team-building skills.Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze financial reports and KPIs.Experience with dealership management systems (DMS), CRMs, and digital retail tools.A customer-first attitude and a drive to build lasting relationships.Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.Compensation & Benefits:Competitive base salary + performance-based bonusesHealth, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with employer matchPaid time off and holidaysCompany vehicle or vehicle allowanceOpportunities for growth and advancement
