Laboratory Supervisor

Description

Yeh and Associates, Inc. is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to lead the operations of our laboratory in Colorado Springs. This position is critical in managing the direction, administration, and operation of the laboratory while ensuring that quality and safety standards are met in compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Supervise and oversee laboratory staff conducting sample testing and analysis.
• Ensure adherence to strict quality assurance protocols and safety standards.
• Assign and manage work for lab technicians, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
• Perform lab testing and initial quality control of lab processes.
• Maintain, calibrate, and oversee laboratory equipment, inventory, and purchasing.
• Review raw data and input results into software (Excel, GINT, etc.).
• Keep nuclear records current, monitor license requirements, and maintain AASHTO certifications.
• Coordinate with the Lab PE to ensure continuous certification and resolve deficiencies.
• Assist with proposal preparation and provide scope and cost estimates for lab testing.
• Perform geotechnical field investigations, including logging and documentation.
• Support CDOT and other client materials documentation and project testing records.

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent GED; Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Geology preferred.
• 10+ years of specific testing experience with demonstrated leadership roles.
• Strong proficiency in Excel and Word; ability to track and manage budgets effectively.
• Experience with AASHTO and CDOT calibration standards.

Certifications:

• Minimum required at hire - ACI Field; ACI Strength; ACI Aggregate I; ACI Lab I; LabCAT A; LabCAT B. 
• Obtain the following within 6 months - ACI Aggregate II; ACI Lab II; LabCAT C; LabCAT E; Radiation Safety and Hazmat; Radiation Safety Officer; WAQTC Lab and Field Testing.
• Obtain the following within 1 year - CDOT Tester/Sampler; CDOT PM Web/ATSER; OSHA 40 hr (hazwoper); OSHA 30 hr (construction).

Work Environment:

• Work in diverse terrain and weather conditions throughout construction phases.
• Exposure to loud noise levels with appropriate ear protection required.
• Physical ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs.
• Strong commitment to safety and PPE requirements.
