Construction Manager – Wastewater Treatment Focus
Location: Coeur d’Alene, ID | Spokane, WA
Enjoy a career in one of the Northwest's most desirable regions, offering abundant outdoor recreation, scenic beauty, thriving communities, and exceptional quality of life.
At J-U-B ENGINEERS, Inc., our purpose is simple but powerful: Helping Each Other Create Better Communities. With over 20 offices across seven states, J-U-B is committed to creating an environment where employees feel supported, challenged, and connected to meaningful work.
We are looking for a collaborative and solutions-oriented Construction Manager to support the delivery of wastewater treatment projects that protect public health and strengthen community infrastructure. This role provides the opportunity to work on treatment, reclamation, reuse, and facility improvement projects while partnering with owners, operators, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams through construction, startup, and commissioning. If you enjoy problem-solving, thrive in a team environment, and take pride in delivering accurate, high-quality work that helps drive business success, we’d love to meet you!
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems in the field, collaborating with diverse stakeholders, and helping projects move successfully from design through construction and into operation. It offers broad exposure to project delivery, client service, construction coordination, and technical leadership within J-U-B's growing water and wastewater practice.
Why Join J-U-B?
This role offers a clear path to grow as a construction manager and project delivery leader within an employee-owned firm focused on helping communities solve important infrastructure challenges. While your primary focus will be water and wastewater treatment facilities, you'll gain exposure to a broad range of collection, conveyance, reuse, water supply, storage, and distribution projects while working alongside experienced engineers, project managers, observers, contractors, and facility operators.
For someone who enjoys both technical and people-focused problem-solving, this position provides the opportunity to become a trusted construction delivery leader, strengthen client relationships, mentor field staff, and contribute to projects that improve essential infrastructure throughout the communities J-U-B serves.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you will help guide construction-phase delivery for wastewater treatment projects while serving as a trusted connection between clients, contractors, operators, field observers, project managers, and design engineers.
- Lead construction support services for regional wastewater treatment projects.
- Serve as the primary point of contact and lead for treatment plant construction observers.
- Serve as the primary coordination link among owners, operations staff, contractors, field observers, project managers, and engineering team members to support successful project delivery.
- Track, facilitate, and resolve construction issues, including development and administration of change orders, change proposal requests, work change directives, field orders, and related documentation.
- Lead or support construction progress meetings with clients, contractors, and project team members.
- Review field progress, testing information, construction documentation, pay quantities, as-built records, and record drawings to support quality, accountability, and successful project delivery.
- Coordinate with project managers, discipline leaders, construction managers, and regional construction staff.
- Support construction observers working on wastewater treatment projects, promoting communication, consistency, technical quality, and professional development across the team.
- Work with the regional Construction Management Services regional lead and participate in construction coordination efforts to share lessons learned, improve delivery practices, and strengthen J-U-B's construction capabilities.
Field Leadership & Project Support
Depending on project demands and staffing needs, this role may also provide direct field support for treatment facility projects. Successful candidates should be comfortable transitioning between construction management responsibilities and field-based assignments as needed, recognizing that supporting team success and meeting client needs may occasionally require stepping into a construction observation role.
Responsibilities may include:
- Performing construction observation activities for treatment facility projects.
- Reviewing testing results, project records, contractor documentation, and construction quantities.
- Coordinating with utility companies, public agencies, property owners, and contractors.
- Supporting project compliance with applicable safety, labor, and regulatory requirements.
- Assisting project teams during periods of increased construction activity or observer staffing needs.
This role may serve clients throughout northern Idaho and eastern Washington. While the position is anticipated to be primarily management-focused, project assignments may require frequent travel, field presence, and occasional short-term or extended overnight stays. Candidates should be comfortable working both in the office and in the field as project needs dictate.
