About the Role
Becton Dickinson (BD) is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Microbiology Laboratory Technical Associate to support our microbiology laboratory operations and ensure the highest standards of product quality, sterility, and regulatory compliance. In this role, you will perform microbiological testing, environmental monitoring, laboratory support activities, and validation-related tasks while adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), safety requirements, and BD's Code of Ethics.

You will play a key role in supporting quality assurance activities, maintaining microbiological control within manufacturing environments, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives that help deliver safe and effective healthcare products.


What You'll Do
Prepare culture media for microbiological testing.


Perform routine and ad-hoc microbiological tests, including:
    > Product bioburden testing
    > Biological Indicator (BI) sterility testing 
    > Endotoxin testing
    > Sterilization dose audits
    > Product sterility testing

  • Observe, record, and maintain accurate microbiological data and test results.

  • Conduct culture media sterility and growth promotion tests.

  • Perform Gram staining and other laboratory procedures.

  • Carry out environmental monitoring activities in manufacturing and production areas.

  • Maintain laboratory cleanliness, organization, and housekeeping standards.

  • Coordinate and send samples to external sterilization facilities and testing laboratories.

  • Support microbiology laboratory equipment validation activities.

  • Assist in ETO sterilization validation and revalidation projects.

  • Support biological indicator placement audits and biological indicator titer quality checks.

  • Assist in microbiological investigations involving out-of-specification (OOS) results, contamination control, and hygiene practices.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, Kaizen activities, and departmental projects.

  • Support safety, quality, and compliance programs in accordance with company policies and procedures.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or department.


​Job Requirements

  • Diploma in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, or a related discipline.

  • Knowledge of microbiological laboratory practices and testing techniques.

  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and quality systems within a regulated manufacturing environment.

  • Understanding of aseptic techniques, contamination control, and microbiological testing methods.

  • Ability to accurately record, maintain, and analyze laboratory test data.

  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation skills.

  • Able to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (SWIs) consistently.

  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

  • Willingness to work in a manufacturing and laboratory environment.

  • Prior experience in environmental monitoring, sterilization validation, or microbiological testing will be an added advantage.

  • Strong commitment to workplace safety, quality compliance, and continuous improvement.
