Description
Amentum is seeking a Senior Estimator working in our office in Hanover, MD. A Senior Estimator is responsible for leading the cost estimation process for complex projects across industries such as construction, manufacturing, and engineering. They ensure accurate, competitive bids are prepared, budgets are aligned with project scope, and cost control measures are in place throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Cost Estimation
- Analysis Review blueprints, plans, and specifications to prepare detailed time, cost, and labor estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and utilities
- Data Research: Gather and analyze labor rates, material costs, production times, and location-specific data to support accurate projections
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, architects, contractors, suppliers, and project managers to ensure comprehensive estimates and alignment with project goals
- Bid Preparation & Management: Prepare and coordinate full estimates for complex projects, manage pre-qualification and pre-bid submissions, and ensure timely bid delivery
- Negotiation: Negotiate with vendors and subcontractors to secure best pricing and terms interviewguy.com+1.
- Reporting & Communication: Present estimates to management, clients, and stakeholders, explaining assumptions, risks, and cost breakdowns
- Process Leadership: Oversee estimating team activities, mentor junior estimators, and implement pricing strategies
- Cost Control: Monitor project progress to ensure costs remain within budget, and update estimates as project scope or conditions change
- Technology Use: Utilize estimating software (e.g., ProContractor, Sage Estimating, Aspen Capital Cost Estimator) for data analysis, forecasting, and budgeting
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in civil/architectural engineering, construction management, 15 years of direct experience in lieu of degree will be considered
- Experience: + 15 years of Extensive hands-on estimating experience in construction or related industries
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in estimating software, Excel, and project management tools; strong research and proposal-writing abilities
- Soft Skills: Excellent analytical, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills; attention to detail and problem-solving ability Better team.
- Certifications: AACE, PMP, OSHA, or other industry-recognized credentials may be preferred Velvet Jobs.
Compensation Details:
$175,000
