The Intraoperative Registered Nurse provides safe, patient-centered care throughout the surgical experience by collaborating with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and the interdisciplinary team. This role supports procedural staffing across both the Outpatient Surgery Center (OSC) and the Main Operating Room (OR), functioning as one integrated perioperative team to provide seamless intraoperative care.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., with required call. This position participates in the on-call rotation and requires a 30-minute response time from notification to arrival.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and deliver safe, high-quality intraoperative nursing care throughout surgical procedures.
  • Prepare patients, operating rooms, equipment, instruments, and supplies for procedures while maintaining sterile technique and infection prevention standards.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the surgical team to ensure efficient workflow and positive patient outcomes.
  • Support staffing needs across both the OSC and Main OR based on patient volume and departmental needs.
  • Administer medications, perform nursing interventions, monitor patient status, and promptly communicate changes in condition.
  • Accurately document patient care in the electronic medical record (EMR) and provide patient and family education.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, maintain regulatory compliance, and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
  • Respond to on-call assignments within the required 30-minute arrival time.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current Louisiana RN license.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification.

Preferred:

  • 1+ Years of Experience as an RN in related area
