Description

We are seeking a Research Fellow to conduct research on bacterial c-di-GMP signalling, biofilm formation, and Type VI Secretion System (T6SS) in Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The successful candidate will investigate the molecular mechanisms by which Pseudomonas aeruginosa triggers the T6SS and kill other microorganisms within a biofilm. One key second messenger involves in the biofilm process is c-di-GMP and the project will involve deciphering and controlling the c-di-GMP network to manipulate T6SS assembly and activity. The role involves designing and conducting research experiments using microbiological techniques, molecular biology, bacterial genetics, microscopy, and biochemical approaches. The candidate will analyse and interpret research findings, contribute to scientific publications, and present research outcomes at meetings and conferences. The position also includes supervising research personnel and students where required, supporting research project management, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary and integrated team of microbiologists, biochemists, cell biologists, and clinicians.

Job Responsibilities:

Research Planning and Project Execution

  • Design, plan, and execute research projects aligned with project objectives.

  • Apply microbiology, molecular biology, bacterial genetics, microscopy, and biochemical techniques.

  • Develop and acquire technical competencies required to support project delivery.

  • Analyse and interpret experimental data to support research outcomes.

Research Reporting and Dissemination

  • Prepare technical reports and research updates for principal investigators and project stakeholders.

  • Contribute to the preparation of manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.

  • Present research findings at project meetings, scientific conferences, seminars, and workshops.

Supervision and Team Support

  • Provide guidance and supervision to research staff and/or graduate students as assigned.

  • Support the coordination and day-to-day management of research activities.

  • Contribute to achieving project milestones and key performance indicators.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate effectively with principal investigators, researchers, clinicians, and administrative stakeholders.

  • Maintain regular communication with internal and external collaborators to facilitate project progress.

  • Participate in departmental, research programme, or institutional activities and committees, where required.

Job Requirements:

  • PhD in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline.

  • Demonstrated research experience in microbiology and biochemistry.

  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: Pseudomonas aeruginosa, bacterial regulatory networks, c-di-GMP signaling, bacterial secretion systems (including T6SS), molecular biology, bacterial genetics, or microscopy.

  • Track record of scientific publication and presentation of research findings.

  • Ability to conduct research independently and collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

  • Experience in protein purification and/or transposon (Tn) library screening is advantageous but not required.

We regret to inform that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
