Position Details

The Department of Health Sciences and Human Performance (HSHP) in the College of Natural and Health Sciences at The University of Tampa invites applications for a one-semester, full-time position with benefits as Visiting Assistant Professor in Public Health to begin in Fall 2026.  

Teaching:  The successful candidate will have potential for excellence in teaching in-person, a critical area for our teaching-centered, primarily undergraduate institution.  Applicants should be eager to create engaging, inclusive learning environments for our diverse student body that emphasize shared learning objectives across a range of subject areas within the health sciences.  The successful candidate will teach three, 4 credit hour, sections of undergraduate face-to-face Epidemiology classes primarily to Allied Health and Public Health students.

The Public Health program is in the process of accreditation with the Council on Education for Public Health; candidates will be expected to teach courses in alignment with accreditation requirements and perform administrative duties to support this initiative, as well as the department needs.

Qualifications

Applicants with an earned PhD, DrPH, or ScD by August 2026 are preferred, MSPH or MPH candidates are eligible to apply with appropriate work experience. Candidates with public health certifications/licenses are encouraged (CPH).  Prior teaching and research experience are desirable.  Successful candidates will have strong epidemiology literacy and effective communication. Candidates should be able to guide students on the use of statistical calculations using Excel.

Salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
