The Role:
We're looking for an experienced, hands-on Construction Supervisor who enjoys leading crews in the field, building strong customer relationships, and delivering successful projects safely and efficiently.
This role is ideal for someone who leads by example. You'll supervise a three-person field construction crew while working alongside them to complete installation and construction activities at customer sites across the U.S. and internationally. What You'll Do:
As the on-site leader, you'll be responsible for the successful execution of field construction projects from mobilization through completion.
Field Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and work alongside a three-person field construction crew.
- Assign daily work, monitor productivity, and ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.
- Supervise subcontractors and coordinate activities on customer job sites.
- Serve as Xylem's primary on-site representative and customer liaison.
- Foster a positive team culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Project Execution
- Plan and coordinate project schedules, manpower, equipment, and resources.
- Monitor project progress and proactively resolve issues before they impact safety, schedule, or budget.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, reports, and records.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Operations to recommend product and process improvements based on field experience.
Safety Leadership
- Champion a culture where safety is the first priority.
- Conduct Job Safety Assessments (JSAs), safety meetings, and site inspections.
- Ensure compliance with company, customer, and regulatory safety requirements.
- Identify hazards, investigate incidents, and implement corrective actions.
- Lead by example by consistently demonstrating safe work practices and ensuring proper PPE is worn at all times.
What You’ll Bring:
We're seeking a supervisor who is equally comfortable leading people, communicating with customers, and working with tools in the field.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 4 plus years of construction site experience.
- Previous experience leading crews in an industrial, mechanical, civil, or heavy construction environment.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven customer service and relationship management abilities.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Ability to read and interpret civil, mechanical, and electrical drawings.
- Basic understanding of construction methods and industrial equipment.
- Experience operating rough terrain cranes.
- Ability to obtain an NCCCO Crane Certification.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Passport.
- Ability to qualify for a company-issued corporate credit card.
- Ability to meet customer site access requirements, including background checks, drug and alcohol screening, medical evaluations, safety testing, and other site-specific requirements.
- Ability to obtain any required immunizations for project locations.
- Willingness to complete OSHA 30-Hour Health & Safety Training (company paid).
Travel Requirement:
This is a travel-intensive position designed for professionals who enjoy working at project sites across the country and abroad.
- Travel approximately 80–100% of the work schedule.
- Assignments may require being away from home for up to three consecutive weeks.
- Overnight travel and weekend work are regularly required.
- Typical project schedules consist of 10-hour shifts, with overtime as needed to successfully complete projects.
- Must be willing and able to travel to both domestic and international customer sites.
