Job Description

The Landscape Maintenance Inspector collaborates closely with CFX’s Landscape Program Manager to oversee and ensure the quality of landscape maintenance across the Central Florida Expressway Authority system. This role involves verifying contract compliance of the landscape maintenance contractors engaged in maintenance activities and periodic installations for over 100 miles of roadway. It also involves technical and supervisory responsibilities, including the maintenance of landscape improvements and retention ponds.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily on-site inspections to monitor and verify landscape maintenance contractors' compliance with contracts, including routine maintenance cycles, chemical applications, and additional tasks as required.

  • Inspect and test the functionality of irrigation systems to ensure optimal performance.

  • Monitor contractors' adherence to contract-directed safety procedures.

  • Assist the Landscape Program Manager in identifying plant pest activity.

  • Compile, organize, and manage contractor-submitted reports, including daily activity reports, chemical application logs, and proposed weekly/monthly schedules.

  • Ability to safely operate a CFX fleet vehicle and perform periodic on-site inspections and monitor pond maintenance contractor activities to verify compliance.

  • Support the execution of ongoing plant replacement (infill) projects by conducting field takeoffs, preparing project documentation, observing installations, and monitoring establishment activities.

  • Conduct routine inspections and document landscape construction project activities during the phase II establishment period.

  • Assist in preparing and documenting a comprehensive inventory of all landscape improvements within the Expressway right-of-way (ROW).

Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of horticultural practices, maintenance, chemical applications, and irrigation system functionality.

  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with professional supervisory capabilities.

  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to work independently and self-motivate.

  • Capable of working outdoors in varying environments, ability to walk, stand, climb, and traverse roadside, landscaped, and uneven terrain in varying environmental conditions.

Qualifications

  • AA or BS degree in a landscape or horticulture related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a landscape related position.

  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.

  • Valid driver license.
