The Global CAPEX Senior Buyer is part of Prysmian’s Global Non-Raw Materials Procurement organization and serves as a strategic procurement partner for capital investment initiatives across the Group, reporting to the Global Commodity Leader - Machinery & Investments.

The primary objective of the role is to ensure that Prysmian’s investment projects are supported by the most competitive, technically capable and financially robust suppliers available in the market. Acting as the link between business stakeholders and external suppliers, the role translates business and technical requirements into sourcing strategies, competitive tender processes and supplier selection decisions that maximize value while mitigating commercial and execution risks.

The Global CAPEX Senior Buyer plays a critical role in supporting investment decisions by providing market intelligence, supplier assessments, commercial analysis and procurement expertise throughout the sourcing and contracting phases of major CAPEX projects.

Success in this role is measured through the ability to identify the right partners, secure favorable commercial conditions, support investment business cases and enable successful project execution through robust supplier selection and contracting practices.

Main Responsibilities

Business Partnering & Requirements Definition

  • Act as the procurement focal point for CAPEX projects during the planning and sourcing phases.
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Project Teams and Finance to understand project objectives and technical requirements.
  • Challenge requirements where appropriate to identify alternative sourcing solutions, emerging technologies or value creation opportunities.
  • Support stakeholders in developing sourcing strategies that align business objectives, budget expectations and operational requirements.
  • Facilitate alignment between technical needs and commercial objectives.

Market Intelligence & Supplier Discovery

  • Continuously monitor supplier markets, industry developments and emerging technologies relevant to manufacturing investments.
  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers capable of supporting Prysmian’s future expansion and modernization initiatives.
  • Build knowledge of supplier capabilities, manufacturing capacity, geographic footprint and financial strength.
  • Develop and maintain intelligence on market trends, pricing dynamics, lead times and supply risks impacting capital investments.

Strategic Sourcing & Tender Management

  • Lead the end-to-end sourcing process from market assessment through supplier recommendation and contract award.
  • Plan and execute competitive sourcing activities including RFIs, RFQs, RFPs and supplier presentations.
  • Coordinate supplier communications throughout the tendering process.
  • Ensure suppliers are evaluated against clearly defined technical, operational and commercial criteria.
  • Facilitate structured supplier comparison processes and recommendation reviews.
  • Drive competitive tension to achieve the best overall value for Prysmian.

Supplier Evaluation & Selection

  • Lead supplier due diligence and qualification activities.
  • Assess suppliers based on:  Technical capability, Execution capacity, Manufacturing footprint, Financial stability, Quality systems, Safety performance, Sustainability standards, Compliance requirements, etc.
  • Coordinate supplier audits, site assessments and capability reviews where required.
  • Support decision-making through fact-based technical and commercial analysis.
  • Recommend suppliers that best meet Prysmian’s investment, operational and risk management objectives.

Commercial Analysis & Negotiation

  • Lead negotiations for major investment projects and strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Develop commercial evaluation models supporting supplier selection decisions.
  • Analyze total cost of ownership, lifecycle costs and project economics.
  • Structure commercial agreements that balance project objectives, cash flow requirements and risk mitigation needs.
  • Negotiate key contractual elements including Payment schedules, Milestone structures, Cash flow optimization, Warranties, Performance guarantees, Liquidated damages, Risk allocation provisions, Contract termination rights, etc.
  • Support project teams in achieving budget targets and investment approval requirements
  • Provide post-award commercial support to project teams through contract interpretation, commercial clarifications, change order negotiations, supplier escalations, claims resolution, dispute management and warranty-related discussions when required.

Governance & Procurement Excellence

  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, sourcing procedures and approval frameworks.
  • Maintain complete sourcing documentation supporting supplier selection decisions.
  • Prepare commercial summaries and recommendation packages for governance and approval committees.
  • Promote procurement best practices, standardization and transparency across investment projects.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the CAPEX sourcing process.

Experience and Background

  • Experience in procurement, minimum 7 years, project purchasing or CAPEX environments.
  • Exposure to manufacturing, industrial, engineering or infrastructure projects.
  • Commercial negotiation and supplier management experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to understand technical requirements and translate them into sourcing strategies.
  • Experience working within cross-functional and international teams.
  • Knowledge of contracting principles and project execution processes.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and procurement tools.
  • A degree in Engineering or related discipline is preferred
  • Fluent English
  • 30-40% travel availability

  • Gross annual salary no less than: € 65.000
  • The position is eligible for an individual or collective variable incentive based on the achievement of predetermined performance objectives
