Mainframe BCPDR Engineer The mainframe BCPDR engineer is focused on providing high availability, highly resilient, and disaster recovery solutions for mainframe clients. This person works closely with the customer to establish an environment for this solution, customizing it for their needs. They establish test plans and assist with failover testing as well as provide long term support for BCP/DR events. Scope of Responsibilities:

• Design, review, develop, test, implement, validate, and support an IBM Geographically Dispersed Parallel Sysplex solution meeting customer requirements.

• Assist with system solution design including concept presentations and investment proposals. • Design and assist the customer in establishing the necessary Sysplex and LPAR configuration to support

the addition of the GDPS Controlling System(s) and the SDM Systems(s) (for XRC). • Design and assist the customer to establish the necessary IODFs for the solution. • Design and assist the migration of DASD and tape storage environments to new hardware. • Assist the customer with the installation and customization of NetView, SA for z/OS, and GDPS. • Design and Support High Availability, Disaster Recovery, and Isolation Testing exercises. • Design and assist the migration of DASD and tape storage environments to new hardware. • Ensure that all solution environments comply with customer security standards. • Consult with the customer on software changes and new features of software. • Ensure that all work and deliverables comply with customer security standards, change control, audit

processes and mechanisms. • Produce clear technical documentation and conform to any audit requirements. • Provide Edge internal or customer training on relevant areas of responsibility. • Conform to customer audit requirements. • Must work hours according to customer availability requirements and implementation windows. • May require travel. • Other duties as required.

Requirements: • 4 years of progressive experience as a mainframe systems programmer. • Current knowledge of mainframe architecture, hardware, operating systems, and components.

Components may Include, but are not limited to, TN3270, SMP/e, JCL, WLM (Workload Manager), CF, SMF, DASD, DFSMS, LPARS, Channels, IPL processes, CICS, DB2, MQ, Parallel Sysplex, IO Configurations, OS Configurations, z/OS Performance Tuning and Capacity Planning tools, and related ISV software products.

• Functional knowledge and use of z/OS components and supporting hardware. • Functional knowledge of mainframe middleware, batch, and JCL. • Functional knowledge of application interfaces

(FTP/TN3270/connection/batch/CICS/DB2/MQ/distributed). • Operating system general knowledge for Windows. • Functional knowledge of Microsoft office products. • Strong leadership, time management and organizational skills. • Excellent communications, and interpersonal skills. • Eager to build professional relationships with staff and clients. • Ability to work unsupervised and independently seek out and interact with colleagues and outside

vendors. • Ability to understand & facilitate decision making on key issues concerning a project.

 

 

• Capability to shuffle priorities in response to a changing workload. • Flexibility to keep up with changing technology.
