Coordinate equipment, supplies, and logistics to prepare for and support community events from setup through teardown. Assist with event setup, traffic control, equipment requests, and day-of-event operations. Serve as a Site Leader or Team Leader for assigned events, providing direction to event staff and volunteers while coordinating field operations and ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently. Operate and transport event equipment using City vehicles, including large trucks, and safely tow equipment trailers ranging from 14 to 40 feet in length. Coordinate with event organizers, volunteers, City departments, and community partners to help events run smoothly. Maintain event equipment, inventories, banners, trailers, and storage areas to keep resources organized and ready for use. Support event schedules, workflows, permits, and other operational details that contribute to successful events. Complete special projects and participate in trainings that strengthen Community Events programs and services. Practice safe work habits and provide excellent customer service throughout all event activities.
Serve as the primary point of contact for event operations, equipment requests, and parades. Coordinate staff workflows and schedules to support successful event operations. Review event permits with organizers, as needed. Answer Community Events office calls and messages. Oversee the check-in, check-out, and scheduling of community banners while communicating updates with City Operations.
A valid driver's license, or the ability to obtain one. CPR/First Aid/AED certification, or the ability to obtain after hire. One (1) or more years of experience organizing or volunteering at large community events.
Enjoy coordinating people, equipment, and logistics to keep events running smoothly. Are comfortable guiding others and making decisions in a fast-paced environment. This position is highly active and physically demanding. Team members should be comfortable working outdoors for extended periods in a variety of weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, wind, and other inclement weather. Duties regularly require lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, loading and unloading equipment, walking long distances, working on uneven terrain such as parks, trails, and construction surfaces, and performing repetitive bending, pushing, pulling, climbing, and other physical tasks. Employees must be able to safely operate vehicles and equipment, maintain situational awareness in active work zones, and work flexible schedules that include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts during major community events.
