Bilingual Legal Assistant
Location: Montreal, QC (Hybrid) - 2x on-site & 3 days remote
Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: $60,000 – $70,000 annually

They are seeking a highly organized and proactive Bilingual Legal Assistant to support a team of lawyers and collaborate closely with legal support staff to ensure the efficient operation of the Montreal office. This position offers excellent opportunities for professional growth and exposure to a wide range of legal and administrative responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage lawyers’ calendars, appointments, and deadlines using Outlook and other scheduling tools.
- Maintain and update electronic and physical bring-forward systems for document and task management.
- Complete monthly expense reconciliations for assigned lawyers.
- Provide administrative support for litigation, negotiations, regulatory matters, and other legal proceedings.
- Prepare, edit, format, and organize legal correspondence, reports, court documents, pleadings, and other legal materials.
- Organize and maintain complex electronic and physical filing systems, including opening, updating, and closing files.
- Coordinate meetings, prepare materials, arrange catering, and provide logistical support.
- Manage client documentation, pleadings, corporate records, reports, and legal briefs.
- Assist with reviewing, organizing, and assembling documentary evidence for complex legal matters.
- Schedule court appearances, hearings, trials, and judicial review proceedings.
- Coordinate filing and service of legal documents with courts and regulatory bodies.
- Interpret and comply with court rules and procedures across multiple Canadian jurisdictions.
- Handle scanning, photocopying, and document management tasks.
- Coordinate frequent travel arrangements and related logistics.
- Provide general administrative support and assist with special projects as required.
Qualifications
Required
- Fully bilingual in English and French (spoken and written).
- Diploma or certificate from an accredited Legal Assistant or Administrative Assistant program, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 4 years of experience as a Legal Assistant or in a similar legal support role.
- Strong organizational, time management, communication, and prioritization skills.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple priorities.

- Exceptional attention to detail and technical proficiency.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with legal software such as iManage, Cosmolex, or similar document management systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and tight deadlines.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform well under pressure while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
