Description
Software Engineer (Java & C++) Overview Software Engineer with solid experience building and maintaining complex applications in Java and C++. Comfortable working in Agile Scrum teams and contributing across the full software development lifecycle including design, development, testing, and production support. Works closely with Product, Architecture, QA, and DevOps teams to deliver reliable, high-quality software solutions. Key Responsibilities
• Work as part of an Agile Scrum team to deliver new features, enhancements, defect fixes, and product improvements through iterative development
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, Scrum Masters, Developers, and QA Engineers to support successful delivery of software products
• Contribute to technical design discussions and assist with estimation and planning activities
• Develop, test, and maintain software components in Java and C++
• Participate in code reviews and help ensure adherence to coding standards and engineering best practices
• Support troubleshooting, debugging, and resolution of production and development issues
• Communicate progress, risks, and dependencies clearly within the team
• Work with distributed teams across multiple locations and time zones
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and contribute ideas for continuous improvement
Required Skills & Experience • 4+ years of experience developing software applications in a commercial environment • Strong hands-on experience with Java and C++ • Good understanding of software design principles and object-oriented programming • Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines, including GitLab or similar tools • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team • Good communication skills, both written and verbal • Comfortable learning new technologies quickly and applying them in practice Desirable Skills & Experience • Exposure to Eclipse RCP and OSGi frameworks • Familiarity with Swing or SWT • Basic exposure to Python or machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow • Experience in Geophysics, Geology, or Oil & Gas domains • Degree in Computer Science or a related subject • Agile Scrum experience or awareness • Experience working in distributed teams • Awareness of AI-assisted development tools and modern engineering practices • Understanding of cloud-native concepts, microservices, and cloud platforms What Success Looks Like • Delivering stable and well-tested software that meets business and user needs • Contributing effectively within an Agile engineering team • Writing clean, maintainable code and following engineering best practices • Collaborating well with cross-functional and distributed teams • Continuously improving skills and contributing to team development practices
