Position Summary
This is an advanced production role typically filled through internal promotion based on demonstrated growth in technical skills, product knowledge, leadership, and operational capability. This position provides advanced support to production operations by coordinating workflow, maintaining equipment readiness, ensuring product quality, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, training team members, and assisting with scheduling and production execution. The Production Specialist works cross-functionally to maximize efficiency, minimize downtime, and support the safe manufacture and packaging of high-quality products.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Manufacturing, Processing, Issuing, and Packaging operations through equipment operation, setup, troubleshooting, cleaning, material handling, and production support activities.
- Coordinate production activities by preparing materials, verifying work orders, supporting scheduling needs, and ensuring efficient workflow execution.
- Maintain accurate inventory, lot control, ERP transactions, production records, and required documentation within Oracle, RedZone, and related systems.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, GMP, sanitation, SOP, and regulatory requirements while maintaining an inspection-ready work environment.
- Partner with Quality, Maintenance, Warehouse, Planning, and Engineering teams to resolve production issues and achieve operational objectives.
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, inventory accuracy, and process optimization.
- Train, mentor, and support operators in equipment operation, procedures, quality standards, and best practices while promoting a positive team environment.
- Assist with equipment calibration, preventive maintenance, validation activities, troubleshooting efforts, and other operational projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 3 years of production or manufacturing experience, including processing, packaging, issuing, material handling, or production support.
- Demonstrated growth in technical skills, operational knowledge, leadership, and problem-solving; this role is typically an advancement opportunity for high-performing production employees.
- Experience operating manufacturing, processing, packaging, or material handling equipment.
- Working knowledge of GMPs, quality systems, sanitation requirements, and production documentation.
- Proficiency with Oracle, RedZone, or similar ERP/MES systems preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, troubleshooting, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to train and mentor team members while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Commitment to safety, quality, accuracy, and operational excellence.
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical production activities.
