As a Senior Data Engineer III, you will play a critical role in ensuring the stability, resilience, and reliability of production data platforms and products across the Capital Group data ecosystem. You will focus on building and operating monitoring, automation, and observability capabilities that enable early detection of issues, rapid resolution, and continuous service improvement.
You will partner closely with data product, engineering, and platform teams to support production services while creating strong feedback loops that translate operational insights into improved engineering standards, system design, and platform reliability. You bring an operations-first mindset, a passion for continuous improvement, and a strong sense of ownership for production stability.

Production Operations & Reliability
You own the operational health, availability, and reliability of production data platforms and pipelines.
You design and implement monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions to enable early detection of issues.
You lead incident response, triage, and resolution efforts, restoring services quickly and safely.
You conduct root cause analysis and postmortems, driving corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
You proactively identify risks, trends, and service gaps, and implement improvements to strengthen resilience.
You define and track SLAs/SLOs and continuously improve service performance.
Monitoring, Data Quality & Operational Controls
You build and maintain end-to-end monitoring capabilities across pipelines, data quality, and delivery layers.
You define and implement data quality rules, controls, and validation frameworks.
You ensure visibility into pipeline health, data freshness, completeness, and accuracy.
You automate validation and health checks to reduce manual effort and improve reliability.
Production Support of Data Platforms & Products
You support and optimize existing data pipelines and platforms, ensuring operability, scalability, and performance.
You partner with engineering teams to ensure solutions are production-ready with appropriate monitoring and support models.
You contribute to operational readiness for new data products.
You create and maintain runbooks, documentation, and support procedures.
Continuous Improvement & Engineering Feedback
You establish strong feedback loops between production operations and engineering teams.
You translate incidents and operational trends into actionable improvements and engineering standards.
You influence system design by advocating for resilience, observability, and supportability.
You promote automation, standardization, and reliability-first practices.
Collaboration & Leadership
You collaborate with product, platform, governance, and business stakeholders to align operational priorities with business outcomes.
You represent reliability and support considerations in design and roadmap discussions.
You mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of operational excellence.
I have the following role-specific knowledge and skills
Technical Skills
Strong experience in production data operations and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices
Expertise with Databricks (job monitoring, performance optimization)
Experience with Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration and operational management
Familiarity with ServiceNow for incident and problem management, as well as operational workflows
Proficiency in SQL and programming languages (Python, Scala, or Java)
Experience building monitoring, alerting, logging, and observability frameworks
Knowledge of ETL/ELT pipelines and distributed data processing systems
Experience implementing data quality controls and validation frameworks
Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms, data lakes, and warehouses
Strong understanding of incident management and RCA practices
Functional Skills
Strong operational mindset focused on stability, resilience, and rapid issue resolution
Advanced problem-solving and root cause analysis capabilities
Ability to translate production insights into systemic improvements
Experience working in cross-functional teams
Strong communication, especially during incidents and stakeholder updates
Ability to balance speed, risk, and long-term sustainability
Financial Industry Knowledge (Preferred)
Understanding of financial services or asset management data domains
Familiarity with securities, portfolios, transactions, and pricing data
Awareness of regulatory, compliance, and governance requirements
Experience handling sensitive financial data with strong controls

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital’s annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
