Job Summary

The Mass General Brigham - Heart and Vascular Institute, is excited to announce new opportunities on their Cardiovascular Perfusion team!

In this exciting role, you will:
Independently manage Cardiopulmonary Bypass (CPB) during complex cardiac surgical procedures, collaborating closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff to optimize patient outcomes.

Provide full extracorporeal life support for a wide range of cardiac surgeries, including CABG, valve repairs/replacements, congenital heart defect repairs, aortic aneurysm repairs, cardiac transplants, VAD implants, and select lung transplant procedures.

Monitor and optimize Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) performance, ensuring safe and effective circulatory support for patients requiring mechanical cardiac assistance.

Perform extracorporeal venovenous (VV) bypass and shunting procedures to support hemodynamic stability and blood management during complex liver, vascular, and tumor resection surgeries.

Operate and manage extracorporeal clot-removal systems (AngioVac) for patients undergoing treatment for pulmonary or cardiac embolisms.

Provide advanced expertise in extracorporeal circulation technologies and support clinical research protocols involving perfusion and circulatory support systems.

 

Education

• Bachelor's Degree Health Science required

Licenses and Credentials

• Certified Perfusionist

Experience

• Post-training clinical experience providing CPB for adult cardiac surgical procedures including coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valve replacements, and aortic aneurysm repairs 2-3 years preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Clinical knowledge of the process for providing CPB for adult cardiac surgical procedures including coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valve replacements, and aortic aneurysm repairs.
• Clinical knowledge of the process for providing CPB for ventricular assist device implantation and congenital pediatric procedures.
• Familiarity with techniques of IABP, intraoperative autotransfusion, and management of ECMO and LVAD/RVAD.
• Ability to provide identified technical skills to patients of all ages including: neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
• Possesses a high degree of innovation and organizational skills.

 

Location: 15 Francis Street (MGH) and 55 Fruit Street (BWH), Boston, MA

The salary range for this position is $169,000-$203,000.00 annually. At Mass General Brigham, we believe in recognizing and rewarding the unique value each team member brings to our organization.
