POSITION SUMMARY

Information Technology is a key enabler that allows CHEO to fulfill its mission of ensuring the best life for every child and youth. CHEO is seeking an experienced network professional to join the Infrastructure Services team and play a key role in supporting the network technologies that enable critical healthcare services across the organization.

 

The successful candidate will contribute to the deployment, integration, and support of enterprise networking technologies, including wired networking, wireless infrastructure, network access control, network segmentation, and secure connectivity services. The role offers a unique opportunity to participate in the implementation and operational transition of network infrastructure supporting CHEO's new Integrated Treatment Centre (ITC), one of the largest technology initiatives currently underway within the organization.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Network Infrastructure and Implementation

 

• Provide advanced level configuration, deployment, administration, and support of enterprise routing, switching, wireless, and network access control technologies.
• Participate in the implementation, integration, testing, and operational transition of network infrastructure supporting CHEO and the new Integrated Treatment Centre (ITC).
• Configure, monitor, and maintain network services including LAN, WAN, wireless, VPN, and secure remote connectivity solutions.
• Support network segmentation initiatives and implementation of secure connectivity solutions in accordance with organizational standards.
• Work with infrastructure, cybersecurity, clinical, facilities, and vendor teams to deploy and support network services supporting patient care and hospital operations.
• Develop and maintain network documentation including diagrams, implementation plans, support procedures, and operational standards.
• Participate in infrastructure projects, change implementations, system upgrades, and technology refresh initiatives.
• Setting up and maintaining segmentation of network in accordance with industry best practices.
• Collaborate with Cybersecurity teams to implement network security controls and support security initiatives.
• Assist with vulnerability remediation, security assessments, and incident investigations affecting network infrastructure.
• Support implementation of network security technologies and secure connectivity solutions.

 

ITC Network Implementation and Integration

• Participate in implementation activities supporting the Integrated Treatment Centre (ITC).
• Coordinate network deployment activities with project teams, vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
• Support commissioning, testing, cutover, and operational readiness activities.
• Validate connectivity requirements for clinical, business, AV, wireless, IoT, and other connected technologies.
• Assist in the transition of newly implemented infrastructure into ongoing operations and support.

 

Operational Support

• Provide advanced Level 3 technical support for network infrastructure and related services.
• Troubleshoot complex network, wireless, and connectivity issues.
• Maintain operational reporting, monitoring, and alerting systems to support network reliability and performance.
• Evaluate new technologies and provide recommendations regarding their suitability within the CHEO environment.
• Develop operational procedures and support documentation.
• Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to IT team members and stakeholders.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

• University Degree, College Diploma, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and practical experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Administration, or a related discipline. (Essential)
• Minimum three (3) years of progressively responsible experience implementing, supporting, and troubleshooting enterprise network infrastructure in a medium to large complex environment. (Essential)
• Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise networking technologies including routing, switching, TCP/IP, VLANs, wireless networking, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and secure remote connectivity solutions. (Essential)
• Experience deploying, maintaining, or troubleshooting enterprise network infrastructure and associated services in a production environment. (Essential)
• Experience participating in technology implementation, integration, migration, upgrade, or deployment projects involving multiple stakeholders. (Essential)
• Experience supporting Aruba, Cisco, Fortinet, or other enterprise-class networking technologies. (Preferred)
• Experience supporting enterprise wireless networking environments. (Preferred)
• Experience supporting network access control (NAC), device authentication, identity-based access, or related technologies. (Preferred)
• Experience supporting enterprise firewall and secure connectivity solutions. (Preferred)
• Experience with healthcare information technology environments. (Preferred)
• Experience supporting infrastructure implementation projects within healthcare, public sector, education, or similarly complex enterprise environments. (Preferred)
• Experience with network segmentation, operational readiness, commissioning, system integration, or transition-to-operations activities. (Preferred)
• Industry certifications such as Aruba, Cisco, Fortinet, CompTIA Network+, Security+, or equivalent networking and cybersecurity certifications. (Preferred)
• Strong knowledge of enterprise networking principles, network troubleshooting methodologies, and operational support practices. (Essential)
• Working knowledge of network security principles including network segmentation, access control, secure connectivity, authentication, and cybersecurity best practices. (Essential)
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills. (Essential)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. (Essential)
• Strong organizational, planning, and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. (Essential)
• Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as Microsoft Hyper-V, VMware, or Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops. (Preferred)
• Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and standards such as NIST Cybersecurity Framework, CIS Controls, ISO 27001, or equivalent industry frameworks. (Preferred)

• Bilingualism (French and English) (Preferred) 

 

Effective March 29, 2021, CHEO will conduct a more comprehensive pre-screening and evaluation process.  This process may include more varied and multidimensional testing such as a written test, practical exam, or other assessment. All candidates who meet the essential and preferred qualifications may be tested.
