Job Description
Position Introduction:
The Department of Chemistry at Vassar College invites applications for a one-semester Adjunct Assistant Professor position to teach introductory chemistry in the Spring 2027 semester, beginning in January 2027 with the possibility of extension into the following academic year.The successful candidate will contribute to the teaching of Vassar's General Chemistry curriculum.
Job Description:
A Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field is preferred; however, candidates with a master's degree together with substantial college-level teaching experience may also be considered. Candidates should have demonstrated experience teaching general chemistry at the undergraduate level and a strong commitment to student learning.
The successful candidate will teach three sections of Chemical Principles in Spring 2027, hold regular office hours, assess student learning, and participate in the intellectual and educational life of the department. We seek an instructor who is committed to excellent undergraduate teaching and to creating an inclusive, supportive, and intellectually engaging classroom environment.
Opportunities to conduct research with undergraduate students may also be available. The successful candidate will have access to shared departmental instrumentation and research facilities (see https://www.vassar.edu/chemistry/facilities).

Pay Transparency Disclosure:
The annual salary range for this position is $44,500 to $46,500 (USD). When extending an offer of employment, Vassar College considers factors such as (but not limited to) candidate’s education/training, work experience, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations. This salary range represents the College’s good faith and reasonable estimate at the time of posting.
