Head Lifeguard

Part-time Position.

Approximately 25 hours per week.

Rotating shifts are 5:45am-Noon on weekdays, and 5:45am-Noon or Noon-6pm on Saturdays.

Chatham County Government is seeking an experienced certified Head Lifeguard. Are you a stickler for pool safety? Can you remain calm and respond quickly in an emergency situation? If so, please continue reading to apply.

• Provide a safe environment for swimming and enforce the rules and guidelines of the Chatham County Aquatic Center. 
• Monitor the behavior and the activity in the pool and the surrounding areas. 
• Respond to emergencies promptly.
• Provide explicit instruction to members using your customer service and communication skills. 
• Participate in in-service training, maintain daily logs, and act as a Duty Manager in the absence of management.
• Open and close the facility.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or GED, and 
• At least one (1) year of lifeguard or swim instruction experience, or 
• Three months of such experience at the Chatham County Aquatic Center; or 
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience. 
• Candidates under age 18 require one (1) year of experience as a Swim Instructor at the Chatham County Aquatic Center. 
• Must possess the Red Cross Lifeguard certification. 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Swim Instruction certification, or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire. 

This is a safety-sensitive position and is subject to random drug testing.
