Sr. Shop Lead

Davey Coach Sales has an immediate opening for a Sr. Shop Lead in our ever growing office in New Paris, IN. The Sr. Shop Lead is responsible for diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical damage of vehicles while ensuring safety and quality for timely delivery of repaired vehicles. Additional responsibilities include assisting in the scheduling of work assignments, quality control, and teaching technicians in the “Davey way” of performing service work. The Sr. Shop Lead monitors the productivity and work quality of all technicians and oversees CDOT and CDE inspections as well as Fabrication conversions, ensuring the utmost quality.

Your Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Oversee Fabrication conversion products, including quality, timeliness, and any issues that arise.
• Analyze, diagnose, and evaluate damaged vehicles to determine repair or service needs and potential replacement of parts.
• Collaborate with the Branch Manager on the dispatching of daily work to the proper technician.
• Responsible for the maintenance of shop vehicles.
• Responsible for approving and assisting other technicians on the diagnosis of difficult or abnormal repairs or services, including approving the procurement of parts, customer approval, etc.
• Accurately estimate costs for repairs, maintenance and service required.
• Perform basic and advanced repairs as required - brake and hydraulic, exhaust, engine and transmission, fuel ignition, electrical, suspension and alignment, restraints and airbags, air conditioning and computer systems.
• Assist in the coaching and development of Service Technicians by coaching them on proper Davey processes and new trainings.
• Inspect and test all mechanical repairs to meet manufacturers’ specifications; road test vehicles when required.
• Utilize all required safety equipment, follow proper repair procedures, and adhere to all requirements for hazardous waste disposal.
• Perform updates and general maintenance on shop computers and diagnostic equipment (Snap-on scanner, Ford IDS, and alignment machines) as necessary.
• Keep personal work area organized and clean; return tools and maintain parts/materials carts in an organized manner.
• Follow Davey’s quality control processes and inspections.
• Perform oil, tire, and brake changes as necessary.
• Perform assigned duties in a safe and responsible manner that does not expose yourself or other employees to unnecessary risk of injury.

You will need to have:

• High School diploma/GED required. Auto mechanic vocational graduate required.
• CDE Certificate.
• 10+ years of automobile or automotive mechanical/electrical diagnosis, problem solving and repair experience in a related industry, required.
• ASE certification a plus.
• Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record; CDL is preferred.
