Principal, Terraform Engineering
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced engineering leader with 15+ years of expertise in infrastructure automation and cloud engineering. As the Principal Terraform Engineering Lead, you will drive the innovative adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) across Azure, AWS, and on-premise private cloud platforms. This role is pivotal in establishing Terraform best practices, standardization, resiliency, and observability while leading the enterprise-wide adoption of Terraform Enterprise within a large financial organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Define and lead the enterprise-wide Terraform adoption strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
- Infrastructure as Code Excellence: Architect and implement standardized IaC frameworks across multi-cloud and hybrid environments (Azure, AWS, private cloud).
- Terraform Enterprise Adoption: Drive rollout, governance, and operationalization of Terraform Enterprise at scale across global teams.
- DevOps Expertise: SME in driving DevOps CICD in IaC implementation.
- Resiliency & Observability: Embed resiliency, monitoring, and observability into IaC practices to ensure robust and compliant infrastructure delivery.
- Standardization & Governance: Establish enterprise-wide standards, guardrails, and reusable modules to accelerate adoption and reduce risk.
- Hands-on Engineering: Provide technical leadership and hands-on expertise in Terraform, cloud automation, and infrastructure modernization.
- Collaboration & Influence: Partner with product engineering, risk governance, and infrastructure teams to drive adoption and innovation.
- Continuous Improvement: Champion automation, efficiency, and secure delivery practices across the organization.
Required Skills & Experience
- 15+ years of progressive experience in infrastructure engineering, automation, and cloud technologies.
- Deep hands-on expertise in Terraform (Open Source & Enterprise), with proven ability to design and scale IaC solutions.
- Strong architectural background in multi-cloud (Azure, AWS) and private cloud platforms.
- Experience driving enterprise-wide adoption of IaC frameworks in regulated industries.
- Proven ability to embed resiliency, observability, and compliance into infrastructure delivery pipelines.
- Strong leadership edge with experience as a global service owner or platform lead.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to influence senior stakeholders.
Preferred Background
- Experience in financial services or global banking organizations.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance frameworks (ISO, NIST, DORA, PRA, CSA CCM).
- Expertise in cloud modernization, automation frameworks, and operational resilience.
