Are you a senior nursing student, recent nursing graduate, or new registered nurse looking to launch your career in Labor & Delivery? Apply today for the Labor & Delivery Nurse Residency Program at ChristianaCare, beginning July 19, 2027.

ChristianaCare's Nurse Residency Program is accredited with distinction as a Practice Transition Program by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Commission on Accreditation in Practice Transition Programs, providing a structured and supportive transition from nursing student to professional RN.

Additional Required Assessments

If it's determined you meet the minimum qualifications will receive separate emails from third-party vendors to complete the following:

SkillSurvey Clinical References

  • Two clinical recommendations are required
  • References are not needed at the time of application
  • Qualified candidates will receive instructions to submit contact information for clinical instructors

HeyMilo Audio Interview

  • Completion of an audio interview question is required
  • Instructions will be provided via email after qualification review

Both the SkillSurvey and HeyMilo assessments must be completed before a candidate can be considered for interviews.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must:

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program before June 2027 (BSN preferred)
  • Hold or obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Have less than 12 months of RN experience by the program start date
  • Hold a Delaware RN license or Compact State RN license before the start date
  • Be willing and able to work all shifts, including:
    • Days
    • Evenings
    • Nights
    • Weekends
    • Holidays

Scheduling will be based on unit staffing and operational needs during and after the residency program.

Labor & Delivery Residency Overview

This comprehensive 26-week residency program combines structured education with hands-on clinical experiences across four Labor & Delivery specialty areas:

  • Labor & Delivery
  • Perioperative Services
  • OB High Risk
  • Antenatal Care

Developed by ChristianaCare Labor & Delivery nurses, the program is designed to provide a smooth and supportive transition into the L&D RN role.

Following completion of the initial residency experience, participants continue to attend residency development sessions during months 6, 8, 10, and 12 to further enhance professional growth and clinical practice.

Employment Commitment

Upon successful completion of the residency program, participants will transition into a Staff Nurse position within the Labor & Delivery department.

Before the start date, nurse residents must:

  • Pass the NCLEX
  • Obtain RN licensure in Delaware or an eligible Compact State

All participants will be required to sign a commitment agreement that includes:

  • Two years of employment with ChristianaCare
  • At least 15 months on the original unit of hire

Individuals who do not fulfill this commitment may be subject to a $10,000 repayment obligation.

What to Expect After Application and Timeline: Completion of required assessments: (Hey Milo and Skillsurvey)

December 17, 2026 -Application deadline

January 2027 - Applications reviewed by residency leadership

February 2027 - In-person and live virtual interviews begin

Late February 2027 - Offers extended to selected candidates

July 19, 2027 - Residency program start date

**Important Licensure Information**

The Delaware RN licensure process can take 6 to 8 weeks to complete. Delays in obtaining licensure may affect your ability to begin employment as scheduled.

Candidates are strongly encouraged to begin the fingerprinting and background check process immediately after submitting their application and to review requirements through the Delaware Board of Nursing or their Compact State licensing board.

This role is flat rate of $39.38/hr. Additional shift differentials may apply based on schedule and position requirements

This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
