At Midland States Bank, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short-term incentives (i.e. bonus and/or commission) and may include long-term incentives (i.e. stock awards). Commercial Services Relationship Specialist
Salary Range: $64,480 - $87,360+ annually
Position Summary
The Commercial Services Relationship Specialist supports the Bank’s commercial client service efforts by assisting Relationship Managers in servicing and growing commercial relationships. This position plays a key role in preparing for client interactions, coordinating internal resources, and learning the fundamentals of commercial relationship management through hands-on experience. While not directly responsible for managing a portfolio or meeting revenue goals, the specialist will actively contribute to team success and prepare for future progression into a Commercial Services Relationship Manager (CSRM) role.
Primary Accountabilities
- Support Relationship Managers with client outreach, call preparation, onboarding, and service coordination.
- Assist in creating call plans, presentation materials, and follow-up communications for prospects and clients.
- Serve as a point of contact for internal coordination across Treasury Management, Credit, Merchant Services, and Operations.
- Maintain up-to-date client data and pipeline activity within the Client Management System (CRM).
- Participate in client meetings, internal sales huddles, and relationship strategy sessions to gain exposure and develop skills.
- Learn and apply the fundamentals of commercial banking products and services, client analysis, and market strategy.
- Develop knowledge of the Bank’s commercial structure, compliance requirements, and service delivery standards.
- The role requires occasional travel for training and team meetings and a willingness to travel periodically to locations within market as needed.
- May require work in a Midland office to ensure collaboration and support of internal and external customers.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or related field preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in a financial services, business development, or client support role.
- Strong interest in developing a career in Commercial Banking.
- Familiarity with commercial products and services is a plus.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to instruct others, interpret documents, and write reports and correspondence.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations
