Are you an experienced NICU nurse looking to take your expertise beyond the bedside?
We are seeking nurses with 3+ years of Level III or Level IV NICU experience (preferred) to join our flight team and provide advanced critical care during air and ground transport. In this role, you'll care for critically ill newborns and pediatric patients while working autonomously in a fast-paced, high-acuity transport environment.
What You'll Do
- Provide advanced critical care and stabilization during air and ground transport.
- Assess and manage critically ill neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients using independent clinical judgment.
- Perform advanced interventions including airway management, medication administration, and critical care procedures.
- Partner with referring providers, receiving facilities, and transport team members to ensure seamless patient care.
- Maintain transport equipment, readiness standards, and accurate patient documentation.
- Adhere to all aviation, transport, and patient safety protocols.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
State-certified Nurse with no restrictions, valid in area of operation.
Advanced Life Support (ALS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and trauma care.
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 120 days of hire.
Demonstrated emergency room or critical care experience.
Must obtain CFRN certification within two years of hire.
Advanced certification in trauma care (e.g., TNATC, ATLS, PHTLS, TNCC) within one year of hire, or earlier if required by the state of operation.
Strong critical thinking and autonomous decision-making abilities in emergency and high-stress situations.
Expertise in patient care delivery, safety practices, and compassionate handling of critically ill patients.
Effective communication and teamwork with diverse healthcare professionals and patient families.
Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution (degree will be verified). Registered Nurses (RNs) hired or promoted into this role must obtain their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four years of their hire or promotion date. If there is an existing education agreement, that agreement will take precedence.
* Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required as of the job description's last update July 2025. Employees hired or promoted prior to this date will be held to the minimum requirements that were in place at the time of their promotion or hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of Level III or Level IV NICU experience
Five or more years of diverse critical care experience across various ICU specialties.
Compact nursing license.
Advanced certification in trauma care (e.g., TNATC, ATLS, PHTLS, TNCC).
Experience in mentoring or training healthcare team members.
Familiarity with advanced medical technologies and ICU-level care during transport.

Physical Requirements
- Must meet a pre-hire weight of less than 216 lbs by interview and maintain weight restrictions within policy.
- Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and transferring patients and equipment.
- Manual dexterity for operating complex medical equipment and performing life-saving procedures.
- Capability to work in confined spaces, high-stress environments, and extreme conditions, including noise, vibration, temperature, and altitude.
- Ability to pass annual physical health assessments and maintain stamina for long shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
