The Opportunity

Payroll is at the heart of the employee experience, and we're looking for a Team Lead, Payroll to help lead our payroll operations with accuracy, compliance, and exceptional service. In this role, you'll provide leadership to a team of Payroll Administrators, oversee payroll processing across multiple operating companies, and partner with stakeholders across HR, Finance, Benefits, Pension, HRIS, and Operations. You'll also play a key role in driving process improvements, supporting system enhancements, and ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time.

What You'll Do

• Lead and coordinate payroll processing activities across multiple companies
• Provide coaching, guidance, and support to Payroll Administrators
• Manage complex payroll issues, exceptions, and retroactive calculations
• Review payroll reconciliations and ensure legislative compliance
• Support year-end payroll activities, reporting, and audits
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver exceptional service
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, and efficiencies
• Support Workday enhancements, payroll projects, and testing activities

What You'll Bring

• PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) designation
• 5-7 years of progressive payroll experience
• 1-3 years of leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience
• Experience processing complex payrolls in a multi-company environment
• Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, compliance, reconciliations, and audits
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
• Excellent communication, customer service, analytical, and problem-solving abilities

Assets

• PLP (Payroll Leadership Professional) designation
• Experience with Workday and payroll system integrations
• Knowledge of collective agreements and multi-provincial payroll
• Continuous improvement, project, or process optimization experience
• French language skills

Pay Range:

73,465 - 82,648 CAD

The Base Pay range may vary depending on the successful candidate or other relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience and education/training. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Medavie employees may participate in various performance-based incentive programs. Payments under these programs are discretionary and subject to both individual and organizational results.
