Mission of Dental Assistant
The Dental Assistant reports to the Practice Administrator. The mission of the Dental Assistant is to help facilitate parent and patient understanding of the treatment needed as well assisting the doctor with chair side dental procedures. The Dental Assistant is accountable for creating a relationship with parents and patients, assisting the doctor to increase doctor production. The Dental Assistant must be knowledgeable about dentistry and be able to work with the doctor in a wider variety of dental procedures. The Pediatric Dental Assistant must become credentialed at the hospital where our Pediatric Dentist goes.

Key Responsibilities
- Greet and seat patient while ensuring patient comfort
- Update patient information as necessary such as health histories, vital signs and x-rays
- Educate patients about necessary procedures and at-home care
- Ensure patient and room are fully prepared prior to Dentist entering treatment room
- Assist Dentist with a wide variety of procedures
- Some independent work with patients within the assistant’s scope of practice such as seating crowns, adjusting dentures, applying fluoride and more
- Take impressions, pour up impressions and lab work
- Follow process for ordering supplies and put them away as necessary
- Organize and sterile treatment room after each patient
- Follow proper protocol to sterilize instruments properly
- Maintain equipment as able
- Going to the hospital for General Anesthesia cases
